Photographer’s Note
The Himalayas in the Sikkim region are young and restless.The hills are always moving and that compunded with the clearing of forests for cultivation,settlements and more recently roads and construction is making the landslides a regular occurence especially during the rainy season.When the roads are badly damaged it takes days to make them fit for vehicles.
This recent landslide made the road a nightmarish experience one day during my travels in and around Gangtok,the city of Sliding Heights.
