Photographer’s Note
Well I don't know if a deity can be included within the tag people. Especially it stems from the identification of the lord with us - humans. Other religions have prophets who were historical figures apart from the debatable question of their humanity/divinity. But for the case of Hinduism without any prophet [at least a historical one] the entire clan is full of deities, lords and their feminine counterparts. They are referred in every mythological scriptures conceivable.
This sculpture is of Lord Bishnu's. One of the most prominent trio - Brahma, Bishnu & Maheshwar [synonymous to creation, sustenance & destruction].
It is about 1000 years old. It is on a pool wherein originates a river that is a life line to the forest named 'Charan Ganga'. The head of the statue is covered by the seven hoods of the most powerful serpentine of Hindu Scripture - Sesh Nag.
