This is a Laburnum tree in full bloom. It blooms in summer. I have saturated the pic to mellow down the effect. The laburnum is called Amaltas in many Indo-Aryan languages.

For Malayalees this is Vishu Poovu ,Vishu -the malayalam new year and Poovu means flower.
Vishu Poovu is part of Vishukkani-A offering consist of a ritual arrangement in the puja room of auspicious articles like raw rice, fresh linen, golden cucumber, betel leaves, arecanut, metal mirror, these yellow flowers konna (Cassia fistula), and a holy text and coins, in a bell metal vessel called uruli. A lighted bell metal lamp called nilavilakku is also placed alongside.
