Photographer’s Note
I'm on a boat similar to this one drifting along the Ganges river in the cold early hours of the morning, as the sun slowly rises. It's always a chore to get out of your warm bed and stumble through the dark alleys in the freezing cold to get on a boat - but I knew once I was on the river it would be rewarding, so I always pushed myself. I did about 4 morning boat rides on the Ganges in total. This is the view away from the activity on the ghats (where people bathe and pray), and it's quite a serene sight.

You are worded this spot and your feelings well. It is nice to catch the context of a good photo. I can hear the sound of the water here ... but having been in India, I can also hear the sound of the mass beyond. One wonders where the others are going, perhaps just like you - just to be there.

Hi David,
I really like this kind of minimalist composition.
The back-light goes very well to this kind of composition.
The light guids us to the boat.
Cheers.

Hi David
A very under rated shot, with superb sharpness & good silhoettes of the solitary canoe. I like the soft, pastel colours, reflections, & tranquil mood. Tfs!

David,
Very serene and peaceful atmosphere. I like the very subtle tone of the color and light, nice and sharp on the boat and reflection. Very simple but good composition. There seem to be a ban of gradiation from the bottom right, wonder what cause that. regardless, I really like it alot. Well worth effort for leaving your warm bed for this image. Thanks David.

Nice moody and almost mysterious shot. The mist gives one the sense of seeing a scene that could be anywhere as there is barely a horizon visible. Well done.

When you're there, you go back to the essence of things, to the minimalism of existence... This shot is an example of that : peace and serinity. You did it well.

Beautifully done David. Worth the early rise and shine. Sometimes less is more and it's true in this case.

Hello David
It has this subtle magenta tone throughout the image which works well against the silhouette of the boat. Very good use of the light that morning.... the Ganges river looks very peaceful.

Hello David,
This is a scene relaxing to rest my eyes on..!
The humid air diffuses the vision effectively, concentrating attention on the boat with the guys...
a balanced composition with fine division of the frame!

Hello David
The composition, the tonality, the simplicity speaks volumes about the shot. Perfect sharpness of the silhouetted boat & the people, in front of a horizon which appears molten in the fog, merging with the sky. Central compo., I don't care, because this is so beautiful! Well done.
