Photographer’s Note
i know this portrait will not meet everybody's expectations, especially those who long for pure sharpness... This is not my case, and I must admit that i love this kind of portrait which brings an additional touch of tenderness. So receive all my apologies for those and welcome to those daring to like out-of-bounds or breaking-the-rules photography;-)) the original was very sharp but i decided to play with gaussian blur and the brush tool on PS... here is the final result quite to my taste BTW...IMO, it has a taste of male "madonna", something touching my spiritual taste...
For the shooting details, this was shot in a backstreet of Leh, behind the chiite mosk, for those who'd like to pay a visit next time, where most local bakeries are located. He is one of the bread sellers...
as some requested the original, i have posted it as a ws. which one do you prefer in the end? thanks

And quite to my taste too, Eric. I love the softness which matches the sadness in his eyes. Maybe a slight crop from the right would be helpful but it's a great shot.

I definitely think you have a point in your views on sharpness, the blur makes this picture emotional. His eyes are really really beautiful. The tones of this picture are really great too.

Interesting rendition Eric though I must admit I have an affinity for sharp portraits myself. :) Maybe you can post the original as a WS for the benefit sharpness fanatics like me. :D

I agree; love the softness. His look can handle some softness around it. Very intense expression you captured here! Well done!

I agree with you: I was ready to write that this portrait wants more sharpness but after I read your note I agree with you! My 2 points are yours!

Bravo

I am going to be the purest here;), and ask for the orginal to be posted as a WS. POints are well deserved though, even if it is not my taste the capture is good.

hello Eric

Great, great, simply great Eric... it brings all the atention to "madonna", as if lifted in time and space... TFS !!!!

I would like to see the sharp original as well Eric, only to see what possessed you to defocus a portrait ( breaks the cardinal rule of focusing on the eyes) and would never occur to me.
The original looks to have been as always 1st rate but the image resulting from your inspiration is full of warmth and subtlety that I would never have expected.
That's probibly the vision thing that makes your trademark

i think I like the workshop version more. I understand where you are trying to go with the posted version, but I think ultimately, I like the original. The man has a sensitivity and sadness. I like this image very much.
