Chatturbhuj Temple at Orchha.

This temple, built on a stone platform, was constructed between the years 1558 and 1573 by Raja Madhukar. It was built to enshrine the idol of King Rama (Lord Rama), but temple has the idol of four armed (chatturbhuj) Vishnu. There is a legend attached to this. Maharani Ganesh Kunwar, wife of Orchha’s ruler, Raja Madhukar, constructed this temple to house an idol of Lord Rama. She got the idol from Ayodhya. The Lord appeared before her and expressed His desire that on reaching Orchha the idol should be placed only at the final place. The Maharani, when reached Orchha, found that the construction at Chatturbhuj temple, meant to place the idol, was not completed. So she got the idol placed at a small temple in her palace next to this structure. When Chatturbhuj temple work was completed, she wanted to move the idol to this new temple, but Lord Rama refused to move. At this realizing their mistake, the King got a Vishnu idol installed at this new structure. Her palace was converted into a temple, where Lord Rama is still worshiped, said to be the only temple where Lord Rama is worshiped as King Rama of Ayodhya.

Orchha is a small town in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh state, India. Orchha lies on the Betwa River, in the Bundelkhand region of northern Madhya Pradesh about 17km from Jhansi.

Back at TE after a long time. i would be writing a travelogue about my visit to Orchha.

Hello, Manoj -
Wonderful shot of this spectacular temple. Great colors; sharpness and good light management reveal many interesting architectural details. Informative note, too. Well done.

I like the soft contrasting colortones depicting the sunset warm glow on this impressive temple, although the compo is not complicated, straight on target, it bring your subject well out.
greetings
Henk

Hello Manoj
Welcome back to TE. Good use of the zoom to have the massive Chatturbhuj fill up the frame. Colour contrast is good with the sky. Marco's WS has brought out the beauty a bit more with the PP treatment. Look fwd. for your Orchha travellogue, where I'd been in December, last year.

Hi Manoj,
The warm light hitting the building really brings out the stonework and all its fine detail so nicely. The square format has worked well to make a tight composition and focus our attention on this magnificent building.

Wanda

Hi Manuj, This is a teuely impressive building. The cropping is good to emphasise the bulk. Maybe, on this laptop monitor, there is some noise effect in the sky. Noiseware community is freeware which may be useful. TFS. Murray.

India. I always believe, if it is not because of her, Disneyland would not have existed. Imagine the creativity and almost unhuman effort of those before us, in constructing something so magical and grandeur by today standard. And simply for the reason of love for something. Or someone.

Now only if someone could cut down the tree please!
Just kidding Manoj :)
