Namaste Jean Paul. Showing life as is, one of daily struggles, often in unforgiving conditions. Yet, despite a hard life, this weathered man can still manage a smile. Great composition with its parallel lines and stark foreground forms.Wonderful use of light. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello J.P.
I love how the man merges in with the border!
This is a very well conceived shot!
The man in the f/g gives so much to absorb and then there is the pleasure of moving out into the context!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi JP,
Good framing here and a nice POV, with the off centered fisherman having a strong visual impact. I like his smile and he has a special hat which i never saw (mind you, I've never been in Kerala!)
Well composed and interesting scene.

Hope is the pearl in the sea
You ought to dive and pick it up to see it shine under the daylight.
And mending a broken heart, is indeed like mending a net. It becomes more functional, yet it is still full of large holes...
One of your greatest photos. Colors, closeness, light and the mood are just great. Congrats my dear friend.

Dear JP!!
this is a fantastic shot! Interesting strange hat, a lovely smile (why was he smiling? because you were capturing him?) , palms and sea, and a net, all very well framed.
I like the net in the sun, over a shady background.
Enjoy life! ( I am learning your mood!!)

Hello friend Jean Paul:
A good framing of the fisherman in his work of repairing the networks, I like his happy visage, it is an agreeable image with good details. He had never seen a cap as that one, it is very original.
Un saludo.

Hello Jean-Paul,
I often think that the explanatory note is always as important as the picture.
I find your picture as photograph very good, as quality something less through the dark face of the fisherman, I am honest Jean-Paul.
It's a nice daily life picture, I hope that the critique not hard shall come.
Thanks for sharing.
have a nice weekend,

Hi Jean,
Well-framed composition.. i like the man's hat that saves him from the sun's effects.. the distance between you and the man is so little and it gives the feeling to enter the composition:) it looks great with the other details and colors too..

I like the way you've composed this so that the subject takes up the left and bottom thirds - I particularly like the glimpse of net at the bottom. The curved shape of the hat is also nicely echoed in the shape of the promontary of land on the right.
Might be worth experimenting with exposure of the fisherman as he's come out a bit dark, and (separately) the sky, to make it a bit more dramatic as it takes up so much of the picture. Wish I could do a workshop, but as you know I have very limited photo editing capabilities!
PS, JP, though your poetry is lovely and seems very popular, and the information about Victor Hugo is interesting, it doesn't really fit the bill of "learning about the world through photography". The photo raises questions - perhaps you could include more details about the location, the activity, that hat (is it traditional? what's it made from?)
Kind regards, dear friend.

Hi Jean Paul,
Good composition that mixes finely the portrait of this fisherman and the landscape that surrounds him, and very good work of management of the difficult light, which has given a good graphical result, a few good shades and a magnificent color.
Nice shot, and great note.

Namaste Jean Paul,
The first thing that caught my attention was the strange hat of the fisherman. But that is just a detail, as there is much more to appreciate in this achieved portrait of daily life. It's interesting that the man is as much the main subject as it is part of the framing of the beautiful BG. A beautiful and vivid photo!
Regards, José.

Bonjour, mon bon ami Jean-Paul,

Hi JP,
What impressed me here most is his white teeth contrary to his sun burnt skin.
I like three boats rearward, each in different colors.
Rule of thirds is working perfectly with the man.

Hi Jean Paul,
This wiser, older gentleman who is so closely bound to the sea could teach us modern city-slickers a thing or two about the meaning of life. He works hard for a living but what an "office space"! No yuppies and office cubicles. He takes his orders from the sea itself. Marvelous "anachronistic" image for our high-tech age!
