Photographer’s Note
As society often creates and sustains them, a not-hided spot on human beings like you and me but at the edge of life, no economic value ... not only pilgrims but lots of local homeless, waiting to get their free daily meal from Ashrams, here at 8km from Haridwar.
A meal a day to keep doctors away, if they ever get one when they need ...

An absolutely striking image, Henk. This is not just an anonymous waiting line, but a fine collection of individuals. That is what makes this a truly great capture!

Hi Henk,
I was thinking; What does that guy in the back has on his head??!! But it's a statue of an elephant and a lizzard :-).
And interesting line and a good note. A pity of the head of a women with a pinkish veil pointing just above the line after the second person. Next to that a very nice street-take.
Greetings!

Hi Henk.
Splendid work where the horizontal view is amazing and where I love the expression of all these faces, especially the first one.
This one is much more than a photo: this one is also about the people.
Regards.

Very strong one, Henk!
How lucky to have the first guy in the cue (and the
closest one to the camera) looking into your lens!
Did they comment on your taking a photo of them? Did
they react?

Hello Hank,
The birds' hospital is one aspect of Indian life, this is another. Strangely, this is not so different from the queues of people waiting for their daily meal in Stockholm, New York or London. The eye-contact with the man to the left, and the tight, horizontal cropping, makes this a haunting picture.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Henk,
Excellent documentary shot with its sharpness and composition. The eyes of the man on the left is impressive.
