Photographer's Note

Snake charming is becoming a dying profession in rural areas of India. Here the man tried to take money from us by leting us take picture of the cobra. I even managed to touch the snake :) .

But on the sadder note,.. many of these charmers stitch the mouth of cobras or remove their fangs so that they cannot bite! So the snakes die after some days,.. only to be replaced by another one. But this cobra's mouth was not stitched,.. it was frequently puting out its tongue to smell the air!

Photo taken in Bithoor, near kanpur.
