Photographer’s Note
My fascination for village life became even stronger when wandering through Bishnoi villages. The Bishnoi are a sect that lives in villages scattered in the dessert off Jodhpur.
The Bishnoi were ecologists avant la lettre. They know nature and grow with it rather then exploiting it. They never cut any trees and only use the wood when branches have fallen off or when a tree has died. Quit incredible if you consider that they need this wood for cooking but also to warm them on cold winter nights.
They also believe they will reincarnate as a deer and hold animal life sacred. They are strictly vegetarian.
Bishnoi men are dressed in white, while the women wear the most colourful (mainly red) dresses and intriguing jewellery making their beauty even more memorable.

Hi Sabine nice to see you posting again i think i would have gone with a vertical frame here or at least not such a tight crop. her expression is very intense and I think the sari over her forehead may have softend her look.

Dag Sabine,
Groetjes, Henk

Ciao Sabine,
love her intense far-looking sight, her concentration to see clearly without noticing you. Well done... and a smile!

Hi Sabine,
That's what I'd call a pretty shallow DoF! :-) Works well here! Though the earring that is a slight bit over-exposed does take a lot of attention. But you make up for it with a pleasant sharpness in the face, a great collection of saturated colours and a good note. Thanks for sharing!!
Greetings, Dennis
PS: I just went over your gallery and I have to say that your photographs are generally underrated. Just to make sure I won't miss anything anymore, I added you to my favourites ;-).
