GURUDONGMAR LAKE! At an altitude of 17800 feet, this pristine lake is the most beautiful lake I've seen in my life. Yes, the oxygen is low, yes, the journey can be tiring..but when you reach the destination, when you touch the water..you really feel that it was worth the effort.
I had posted a shot earlier "road to heaven" that was taken on the way to the lake. So my friend Jean Paul (japiey) suggested that may be this then is the "Abode of GOD"...THANKS JEAN!

what a great shot. Hi quality and sharpness. Beautiful colours, the water in particular. The mountains are amazing and the cloud rolling down looks like an avalanche.
Really a great place to relax and meditate

This view is fabulous!! The color of the water is so beautiful, and the mountains in the background are also magical. I can almost feel from this very sharp and detailed photo how clear the air must be. Thanks for sharing this beautiful place.

Beautiful landscape photo, very well composed and great colours
batalay (36519) 2007-11-30 19:40
This is a genuinely beautiful vision. It is astonishing that the lake is at 17,000 feet (higher than any mountain in the contiguous States of the United States — Mt. McKinley only is higher 20,000, but it is in Alaska, not one of the contiguous states). And yet the range of mountains (Himalayas) tower over the lake. There is something etherial and surrealistic about the image. The temperature must be very cold in the lake, created by meltwater from the snow.

Yes, wonderful shot of Gurudongmar from the conventional POV..u have got a tremendous colour of water..did u attempt to go down and take the reflection.. I mean a diff POV..!!?? the is as good as it gets from Gurudongmar..!!!Inclusion of the diagonal walkway has been very good and shows the circumambulation route well in the distance as well..!!
Have just tried to give a diff perspective to this beautiful shot in the WS....its not at all a corrective one..its just my view..!!!
Do let me know how u like it..!!

Beau cliché de ce lac d'un joli bleu entouré de montagnes enneigées. Le paysage est très agréable à regarder et le chemin invite à la promenade.
Merci pour le partage et bon week-end.

A very nice picture, which joins the theme "Lakes above 12500 feet" Often the colours of high altitude lakes are incredible ! Go on, taking opportunities to discover and enjoy some of those lakes...

Hello Mam :)
This pov is indeed a refreshing one..seen enough with the attmept of a postcard shot from other members..this adds a perspective and gives a lot of depth to the shot..i like the jagged end of the strip of land..the emerald hue of the water is striking contrast ot the milk white snowclad mountains and clouds..colours look natural..think there is too much manipulation in the workshop though :)

An impressive shot - looks like some of the great Canadian lakes with this expanse of color! I like your framing - and the snowy mountains are nothing short of spectacular.

Absolutely stunning photo! beautiful vivid colors. nice composition and pov.
noborders (1010) 2007-12-04 1:37
The colours are very pleasing for the eyes, the clouds merging with the glacier make me think of an avalanche but it's probably not the case... And the vastness of this landscape is inspiring !

this is breathtaking, in many ways, the one you explain in the note but of course the view, it's a bit out of the world, heaven yes, this could be it, gorgeous colors, love that composition with the S curve, I prefer your version to the ws, those mountains are a feast to the eyes, the light gives it a very special mood, like in a dream...Beautiful.
prumod (8300) 2007-12-05 8:51
marvellous colors in a top level qulaity.... your frames is great as well as this place...
Angshu (56460) 2007-12-05 19:53
Brilliant Shaeri..that's all I can say! I looked at the picture for a long time & for sure I felt tranquility. At 17,800 feet, yet with the peak towering over the turquoise waters..an amazing feeling. Indro has done an excellent WS..also shows how poor we are in PS ;-)!
sayan (2617) 2007-12-07 6:48
Wonderful pov. Yes, it is beautiful. The colors are wonderful. The cobalt blue color of the water is particularly very interesting! nice work indeed.
JorgeCK (2620) 2007-12-07 9:47
Great shot. Excellent sharpness. The turqueise color of the water is so beautiful. The snow, clouds and sky is a perfect backgroud for this beautiful 'postcard'.
Well done amigo.

a nice place with the lake and the impressive mountains.
the little island on the foreground is disturbing for my taste.
pboehringer (770) 2007-12-11 11:21
what magical composition and colors! I can understand quite well that this is the most beautiful lake that you have ever seen. I love the zig-zag line leading into the picture and way beyond into the background with the massive mountains.
cdmonson (4806) 2007-12-18 14:32
Funny, for some reason when I first saw this I thought it was Lago Pehoe and Cuernos del Paine in Chile. But now that I've had a better look...fantastic work! I would have been nice if the sun had been in a different spot, but overall this is a very lovely shot of a very lovely place. Hopefully someday I'll make it to the Himalayas. Nice job.
siolaw (38292) 2007-12-22 0:23

ana-marija (283) 2007-12-29 8:21
brilliant brilliant colors, i just wish the shot was more broad on the right, so that we could completely see the curve of the lake. the mountains and clouds in the backgroud are also magnificent.

I had to go looking for other photos of yours from the Himalayas after seeing your last post. It was a rewarding task. It's easy to to agree that this can be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world by looking at this wonderful photo. I like the colours, of course, the unique clarity that is so characteristic of the high mountains and the zigzagging lake border that leads to that glacier on the BG, where it looks like there is a cloud mixed with snow.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hi, Shaeri -
This is higher than any lake I've heard of before, which was around 16,000. Lovely shot and well worth the exhaustion of getting to it. I like the S-curve, too, but I wonder how it would have looked to have the whole curve there.
