Extraordinary shot on two counts, my friend: a) a crocodile shot from Sohrab and b) any shot from Sohrab ;o))) Very cool rendering of tones here - inetresting choice of almost total blackness on the right side of the frame.
Only wish you would post more (he said even though he isn't uploading at the moment...;o)

would never expect a photo like this from you, I mean this has this sort of strange climate that many of your photos have, but it's a crocodile taken at the zoo (I assume) or something, just didn't expect this from you. Good photo.

As Peter said, I would not have guessed it was your picture (because of the subject, the rendition is all yours) if I did not get the email from TE that Sohrab is stalking gharials. This looks more like a picture by
zana briski, especially from her Zoo sub-gallery. Happy diwali, hope all is well my friend. I will be going home for three weeks in about 10 days.

Hi my friend! so glad to see you back. did you survive your dive with the crocos? Was that shot in an aquarium? or did you actualy went for a swim with your camera? Whatever, i love the animal leaving the place and turning his back on you and us... as well as the fish tails also leaving the place! This grainy touch and b&w is definitely your style and palette!

Well, I'll just add my voice to the crowd. Not that I'd be absolutely impressed by this image, but the simple fact to acknowledge that you're alive and kicking makes me rejoice. Your view is much too precious to be lost from sight.

Wow! Sohrab, what were you doing diving underwater with a ghadial??
Terrific black and white. BW is the last medium I would choose for taking a nature shot these days, and yet your rendition of it makes it so mysterious and mythical almost that a shiver runs down my spine. That fish tail adds to the ambience. A top class art, my friend, the photo transcends mere nature photography.

Hope your camera was well shielded and you survived any tackle by the mother crock!
Keep well, and don't try to emulate your other hero, the Aussie chap who succumbed to his daring-do...

WOW!!! Sohrab, are you coming back from Niniveh, from the belly of the whale, or that of a gharial? Where are you taking us, which undercurrent, which river? The vignetting, the magnificent hues, the closeness of this prehistoric beast AND the tails of the surrounding fish fill me with delightful horror. Brilliant work.

Hi Sorhab,
I can hear it from here "this is not a shot for TE". Well, I din't know that there were crocs in India...
Anyway, beautiful B&W, as always with you. I like the texture and the vignetting, it has some dreamlike if nightmare quality to it.
The tails of the fish are the brilliant.

hi sohrab! i am wondering as to how you managed to shoot this photograph...where were you? this is absolutely what i expect from you ..something fresh and exhilarating...
