Photographer’s Note
I was quietly taking a photo of the Chamundi Temple in Mysore, when all of these guys except the one in blue jumped in front of me laughing, so I would take their photo. The guy in blue then jumped in, so I took this shot too. The smiles actually increased when I switched from portrait, so that I could get the whole temple in, to landscape to close-in on the guys. I also crouched down for better composition and they all cheered then returned to the smiles you see here.
Later, when I was a little further around the hill that houses the temple, photographing "Nandi" at the Bull Temple, these guys pulled up in a bus and all hung out of the windows shouting hello at me and waving. It was a pleasant experience, that kind of reminded me of my first few years in Japan, when I lived in the countryside. People then would often stop, wave and shout hello too.
