Photographer’s Note
After photographing the kids of Ramni, we continued the way through the village and suddenly we found this "family" blocking the passage. The mother insisted that we touch the hump of the sacred cow and also make a photograph of them - "for good luck", she said. I had to be fast and couldn't complain about the bad lighting conditions. One quick shot and this is the result. I decided to post it...for good luck ;-)

Hi Ricardo,
Another magnificent portrait from India. Excellent capture of the expressions. I like how you framed the picture and managed the light.
TFS and have a nice week

You even managed to get a cow in; your favourite animal. Very nice triple portrait. I don't mind the oe sky at all as it's not important. It's all about this hard-working family. Let's hope you keep getting your good luck.

Hi, Ricardo.
Good scene, very quiet and natural.
A little pitty for the croped feet...but is no the most important.
I like this scene and those persons.
Best regards. Grazyna.

Hi Ricardo,
A strong sense to this portrait shot! They come(including the cow!)closer to your camera...looks so real and this is the big advantage for this photo.Only the the perspective to the far mountains with the different light gives some kind of dream.
They like very much to be photographed by you...so good luck to the nice family and to photographer,of course!

Hi Ricardo,
Excellent picture! I like how you could capture the faces of the boy and his mum, happy and proud of their cow. Hope luck will smile to you after this ;-)

Josep

Good triple portrait Ricardo, and you managed to catch great expressions on all three of your subjects!
I do find the framing a bit tight though, especially at the bottom where you've cropped the feet of both cow and boy. I also want to see the end of the woman's stick.
More care taken over the framing at the time of shooting would have paid off, but even so it's an appealing image and it still manages to work well.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Ricardo,
That is one fine animal!
And the owner(s) is proud too, with a reason...
The portrait is great, showing so many different expressions... the boy, the cow, the mother!
Good ducumentary of another side of daily life!

Olá Ricardo,
frontal study, well done. The background is .. far enough away. But those three, ok, a bit cut foot but the rest is just good. I think the cow is the one less posing, therefore the most natural impression ;-)

Hello Ricardo,
Nice grab shot that's very well composed. I think the light conditions are quite fine for this sort of photography but you could use some fill-flash though that has its own risks here. One issue seems to be the focus, which is somewhere on the cow's head, I think. Regards,
Hakan

Hi Ricardo,
Composition could have been better - Ben made a good critique imho :) - but my words here are for the simplicity of the scene, the kindness I can read in the woman's expression, the candid story behind the picture ... and for good luck ;).
Thank you.

Hi Ricardo,
Nice to see that the cow is back in the scene. The artificial cows were now in Copenhagen, but most of them were well hided.

At long last, a new post! A very good portrait, maybe a bit too tight at the bottom, where there was some space still at the top. But this was a hurried shot, so I understand. Like the expressions on the faces of the mother & the kid. But is this a cow? Looks more like a buffalo to me!
Friendly Regards

Great family scene. Can't imagine the owner of superb-shiny-brand new-car having that proud expression and that possessive hand touching it. And the cow is a beauty of it's own standard :))... And I like very much colouring and soft light and the fading background. Great shot.
And I do prefer the darker version - perhaps it's a matter of the screen.

Ola Ricardo,
what expressive faces!I like the serious glance of the boy and the cheerful smile of the mother.Excellent the colours and light in the foreground but the light in the background is over saturated.I know it's difficult to capture two themes beamed from different lighting conditions.Never mind it's a good effort Ricardo.

Hej Ricardo,
The mother and her child seem to be very proud of their cow! You captured them very well with the cow nicely in the middle. I like the layered blueish background actually too. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Ricardo,
The strong and harsh light in the sky is definitively a real problem and limitating factor for the complete success of this shot. Antonio's WS gave some ideas of better approach to enhance the colors in the foreground that seems to be slightly overexposed in the main post. However, the sky in the Ws got even worse, IMHO. That is the type of shot that having RAW gives you so much more possibilities to do "darkroom" work. May this post be finally the "good luck" moment to get you on RAW? I understand that you didn't have all the time to get your camera ready for this shot, otherwise the use of a ND grad filter would be another option to control the light in the sky.

Ricardo,
Excelente foto.

this shot is not about the bg. and the triple portrait fills nearly the whole frame, making it almost insignificant. Good one!
