Photographer’s Note

Lahaul and Spiti are two remote Himalayan Valleys of Himachal Pradesh - lying on the Indo-Tibet border. Lahaul is marked by a central mass of uniformly high mountains and massive glaciers. The two rivers, Chandra and Bhaga which rise on either side of the Baralacha La, flow through the narrow Chandra and Bhaga valleys.Lahaul is surrounded by a series of high mountains. Main Himalayas lie in the north and mid Himalayas are to the south with joining ranges on the east and the west. This gives a highly pinnacled topography to Lahaul.

The Bhaga valley starts from the south-western foot of the Bara-lacha Pass.Strange, exciting, primitive, this valley is unsurpassed in mountain scape, in the rugged beauty of its rocky escapements and the splendor of its snow covered peaks. It is barren, rocky and uninhabited up to Darcha which is the first village in the valley. The valley broadens out from here onwards.

This shot was taken from the moving car somewhere near Suraj-Tal.One can see Bhaga river flowing down the valley

here... i like more those clouds hich are very very beautiful and looks like of classical oil paintings!
burnt sienna of the ground gives a perfect contrast for the sky and the mountain....

Shooting from a moving vehicle rarely rewards one with good results, but you've done well here and created quite a well balanced image.
I think if you had stopped and got out of the car, you would have been able to get a better shot though. Maybe you could have found some foreground interest or made better use of the natural lead-in line of the road leading off down the valley.
Nontheless, your shot works, and the majesty of this rugged landscape comes across well.

Bonjour Dhurjati,
nous ne sommes rien face à ces montagnes grandioses, les Indes comptent parmis les plus hauts et les plus beaux sommets du monde.
Tu as bien choisi l'endroit pour une photo bien cadrée, le ciel est magnifique, excelentes lumières.

Taken from a moving car!! It's amazing how sharp it is. The landscape is so majestic. The wide V of the valley is a perfect frame for the snowy mountains it encloses. Excellent shot

A beautiful valley leading to the snowcapped mountains in the back!
I notice the absence of greenery so I presume this is high altitude...

Great work ... especially from a moving car .. the almost mythic central peak is set up so wonderfully by the dimension and great Earth tone feel an lines of the closer valleys .. tremendous!
