Photographer’s Note
You can see the smoke from the Burning Ghat in the background. It never ceased to amaze me how many people tried to sneak in shots of the Burning Ghat despite being told repeatedly that this was disrespectful. I think it's one of the most photographed places in Varanasi precisely because people are told they can't photograph it. I behaved myself!

Great documentary photo Bob. There is a lot to see ..... but you can expect that in a fascinating city like Varanasi.
I really like the soft light and the colourtone. It works well in this photo. The centerpiece; the man with the towel is special.

The dominating greyish pastel tones on the background with the smoke makes this view stand out, wit a lot of details on the daily bathing, take care of white halo sharpening here on the edge but still very acceptable, well captured Bob.

Hi Bob,
I'm surprised that this shot did not receive more attention. It's a bit small, but besides its size there's a wonderful atmosphere coming out of this photo. I like that perculiar light due to all the smoke coming from the nearby burning ghat and all these men gathered on the steps by the water.
Have a nice Suday.
Brigitte
