Photographer’s Note

Taken from Observatory Hill, Darjeeling, on a clear winters day. The mountain is part of Kanchenjunga, the world's 3rd highest peak & forms part of the eastern extension of the Himalayas. A bit noisy, but this is preferable to unsharp & blurred.

A really nice, and a really impressive view on this peak. Very well composed, good contrast and colours, the noise doesn't disturb here, still acceptable.

Wow...excellent colors. Very good composition. The noise is not clearly visible an deven if it is, it couldn't discount the fact that this is a well-composed and exposed shot!

That's a great PoV you found there. Mainly I agree with Carlos about the noise, though it looks a bit odd around the tree. Accepatable though, great shot

I will be honest!.

Good composition, beautiful view, good color, good contrast and good light. You have been oversharpen this picture a bit, show on the tree, the wite around the branch show that.

It is my opinion, mabye I am wrong, so let me know!.

interesting colour combination (can't say if they are real :)) - light green, light blue and yellow. the trees and the mountain peaks provide a frame... i like the tree at the bottom right corner, the way it is contrasted against the blue mist.

I think yesterday is right about oversharpening. But I still love this POV and the way we "fall" into the frame. Great composition.

You've really captured the feeling of height with this pov. Nice depth in the shot too, and lovely light. I really like the trees in the foreground.

Very nice view from the peak. The tree branches on the right are a nice catch to fill up the empty space. A less tight crop at the bottom would also be nice.

A wonderful photo...when I first saw this, it felt as if you were on top of the world...and with Kanchenjunga being so high (and spectacular) you really are! And the brightly-colored house in the foreground is nice, too!

That's exactly how to make a composition of this kind, Chris. I like how the view towards the imposing snow-topped mountain range is opening up between the trees and behind the colorful building in the foreground. The noise is not pronounced in a way that I would find it disturbing, it looks more like haze above the valley. Well captured.

Great view with a strong Far Eastern taste, Chris! :-) I love the colours and the depth, together with the fine BG of mountains, covered with snow and emerging out of the blue. The building is like a wonderful decoration to it and the framing with the trees in FG make it completed. Excellent capture!

Although it is scanned you mannaged a good balanced color range, I know th problem of scanning.
