Hi Luko,
Maybe you should do some more sports, because this one is captured at the right moment. A well thought shot with the ball cleary visable heading towards the batsman. Including the spectator on his bike creates a very nice intro the the rest of the image.
Most of your work is not my style, but this one is more the way i would make it...is that a compliment? ;-)

Ca c'est de la compo! Je réalise combien ce velo nous permets de rentrer dans la scene de plein pied. la balle rouge à équidistance des deux joueurs est un heureux hasard;-) j'aime bcp cette scene luko!

Hi Luko,
Intersting remarks in your notes. I believe its Rahul Dravid, the captian who failed to motivate on all the fronts.
Well your team is playing without any protection gears...this is how the street crickedt is played.
I too played it infront of my home in Chandigarh for many years.

Lorsque tu mentionnes que la photo sportive n’est pas ta tasse de thé, je ne peux que penser à celle que tu as réalisée, avec Jordan Singh et son basket. Mais je ne vois pas dans ces scènes tant le côté sportif, que le côté «style de vie». De par cette composition plutôt «street shooting», le sujet devient presque secondaire; je veux dire que ce pourrait être des planteurs de riz avec un zébu à la place du vélo, ou une scène de pêche, que tu aurais attaqué la situation de la même façon.

Tu ne t’es donc pas prêté au style de la photo sportive, mais tu as fait du Luko avec cette scène comme avec n’importe qu’elle autre scène. J’imagine que lorsqu’on accumule de l’expérience, on développe un style personnel, un instinct photographique qui se répète d’une fois à l’autre, sans que ce ne soit péjoratif. Je peux reconnaître du Luko, du Harrison, du Alfonso. Ce ne sont pas des shots génériques, ce sont des émotions sur papier ou en pixels.

Le coup d’oeil avec le vélo au premier plan est totalement génial; en fait, il s’agit d’une scène doublement sportive... Et comme avec le dunker, un temple est venu se placer derrière la scène pour nous rappeler que nous ne sommes pas au Yankee Stadium (je ne connais pas le nom des stades de cricket...).

A perfect Cricket shot against the ancient temple! The contrasting theme of the image and its style is comparable to some by (now deceased) Raghubir Singh.

Hi Luko. Mostly I like this shot quite a lot. One thing it does for sure is to show us that even with what would be considered bad light, a good shot is possible. I like the inclusion of the bike; in some ways it takes this well beyond the typical street cricket shot that is quite common from India. However, I have to admit taht becauseof the perspective of being close to the bike, the cricket game seems a little separate from me. I am not sure there is an answer; a longer lens from a more distant shooting spot would likely flatten things out too much. However, I just wish that I felt more involved in the game. Still a very nice shot overall.

I love the way you can place so many elements in one single shot so well, Luko. Each detail is essential in this composition that creates a real sense of being there in Tamil Nadu at that game. Fantastic how this bike with the hands are so utterly close; without it, the game would lose its real interest for me as a viewer. A fine work whose real beauty to me lies in its understated complexity and intangible atmosphere.

Wonderful shot i love the perspecitve the bike the kids and the timing with the batter at the top of his backswing which makes the scene a little more dramatic. Its a shame that the World Cup was such a dissapointment this year. Reminds me of playing cricket in the street with my friends. Ahh the memories!

I can see the orange ball over the white wall. Perfect! I love these street sport shots of you. This one reminds me the other one in the back (front) of the Taj. The same feeling, the same atmosphere. This cyclist in the foreground is crucial for the success of this. At least for me. The way it places us in his/her skin watching the action is a very striking one. That's an element I have been also trying to record in my pictures as I might have already mentioned. Thanks for the class then. :) Really like this one.

Well the way to my heart is a game of street cricket from India, and you've done it well here. Quite a contrast to my previous photo from Lords. Nice inclusion of the bicycle wheel, which as Darren said, excludes us from the action, but to me makes us feel like a fly on the wall and that they arent just playing for the camera.

Hi Luko.

In this photo you show us a daily life scene but with different eyes. It creates a wonderful atmosphere where every one of these elements are essential (as the bike in the foreground, the buildings in the background or the boys between them).
The light is also good, and I like the effect between the light and the shadow.

Celle la j'accroche moins, c'est une photo sur laquelle plein de membres de TE et photographes dont moi se seraient cassés les dents, partie sombre partie lumineuse attention les dégats. Donc tu t'en sors vraiment bien, la scène encore une fois est de grande qualité mais je suis plus mitigé sur le premier plan et cette roue de vélo et sur le fait justement de cette partie sombre, partie claire

one of my greatest disappointments was coming back from india with a decent cricket shot, a must for any india portfolio. perhaps because of the heat or the above mentioned poor results in the world cup there weren't as many kids playing as i expected.

a beautiful rendition this one, not only have you captured the perfect moment (it's tougher than one may think) but you managed to find a great pov and made it even more interesting with the includion of the temple and the kid with the bike. excellent details both in the sun and the shade.

you seem to be posting a lot more from southern india, did you stay there longer than in the north?
