Photographer’s Note
This monkey came to my room in Rishikesh while I was doing some Yoga. The dude took some food from my table and I felt kind of sorry for this creature, for the fact how the ecological niche of this species is so much encroached by humans. To me these apes are humans too ... :-))) .. infact more than humans as they do not play any games with ulterior motives.
Anyways I have admired (with silence) George (Polonaise's) series about "How Close can you get", and this would be contribution to the photos with that theme.
With my 17-40 mm lens, I had to get pretty close to this guy in order to take this shot. BTW, I took this photo just when the monkey guy growled at me and gave me a sign to back off. In the workshop, I will include another photo of this guy rampaging in my room for food.

The portrait of a monkey!!!. Beautiful one and he eys say that the monkey is not frightened at all.......so you could go more closer....but you never know what happens next as I have just completed the course of 5 Anti Rabbies Injection.....living in woods with monkeys and Langurs all around.

Ahhhh !!!!!!!!!
This guy is really angry with you, Sarju.
I wouldn't get any closer than that.
Actually…Your photo is closer associated with my other post:
NO FOTOZ… NO PIKTURES..
Uncanny is the resemblance between us and the other species…Isn't it? (:-)))))))))))))))))))
Have a great day, good buddy.
Thanks for mentioning.

I LOVE this shot. Great timing! I have many pictures of my roommate in the same position. Maybe I should take it to the next level heheheh

I would be so shocked if a monkey ever came into my house. This one made me smile. He is very cute; hard to believe they would growl. I like his expression; he seems shocked that you are photographing him (maybe he's too worried about his food). Well done.

You've caught some great details of the monkey, Sarju. I find the face to be a little out of focus, did you focus on the watermelon?
I noticed you used f13. Did you have your camera on f13 for a previous shot and had not time to change it when the monkey appeared? I'm assuming that's the case. I think you could have gotten a little closer as well. OK, you couldn't, but maybe crop the picture more. Ifind the background railings and steps to be a bit distracting.
Thanks

Hi Sarju
This is very common expression of monkey when we get close. You capture it very nice with such a close distance. Nice expression of monkey in this picture.
cheers

Great, great, Sarju! What can I do to encourage you to post more? May be try to make some parties as all of you did last night...in my room...I mean, in my post. And what a pleasant surprise, I had this morning :) G. is one of a kind.
These fellows were one of the reasons that made me fascinated in the first city I visited in India. In the first day in Rishikesh, I just persued them with my camera, along the bridge, as a stupid kid. Unfortunately I didn't had the luck of having one invading my room, because that would be pretty cool :)
I totaly agree with you. They are so human alike. But this was a very dangerous shot you took here. You could have ended without your camera! Did you showed him the result on your LCD screen? I'm sure he would liked it :)
I'm very glad with your post, my friend and the ws is very impressive - he really entered IN!
All the best, ric

Allo Cousin,
Long time no see, I see you have found a new friend, looking at the blur on the teeth indicating some warning movement I'd no come any closer to stay on the safe side, a very nice and vivid picture.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hello Sarju -
This is a very good portrait. It is really a good thing that you got back when you did because these little guys can get a bit nasty. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Sarju,
Argh! Cute face in the form of a heart, but I would be quite afraid of his (assuming it is a "he") teeth... Indeed, you were close. As close you could get before he decide to taste of bit of your flesh! I like how his right cheek is wrinkled, it gives even more a feeling about his intentions if you had decided to get even closer. The photo did indeed remind me the "No fotoz..." of Polonaise. But, since you took the photo before George posted his one, it was no mimicking. :))
On a technical aspect, yes, you could have gone with a bigger aperture and have more speed. But hey! I am pretty sure I would have completely missed the photo opportunity having a monkey coming in my room while doing Yoga! :))))
Good one!
Claire
