Hello again Sohrab. If it were me, they'd all be calling this a hipshot, hee hee. Seriously though, there is an epic quality about this one that comes through very
strong. It's the angle of the two faces on the right and the upturned eys of the one on the left.
Resonant, powerful work.
Best,

Three strong portraits in one photo... their looks are really tense and anxious. Remarkable photo.

Bonjour Sohrab

Those eyes, Sohrab! Whatever made you stoop down on your knees to frame these mountain-like constellation of faces, two with eyes abated, as if in patience, like goddesses, and another looking over the horizon with determined expectation, the statuesque faces of these mothers remind me of that hill in North Dakota...whatever made you go down on your knees for this one, that was the right instinct.

Their faces are fascinating, but I'm not really sure they need that halo around their heads, giving them a kind of angelical aura which just doesn't seem adequate to me. You're not becoming mystical are you?

Hello Sohrab.
Good perspective, as always, in this shot. Kneeling was the right decision; a slight variation that shows the difference between your creativity and the other thousands of people that take similar shots every day...
Contrast is nice, but the dodging of the face on the left is too deliberate. You notice how the light looks thin, almost grey...just too much, or without enough attention to detail. With this face you would probably have to get a little more into the details. Just dodging the eyes and parts of the face to retain more of the contrast...as opposed to one wand circling over the whole face. The quality of the tones on the lefthand womans face is just not as strong as the other two faces which I think takes a little away from the shot. The sky is not problematic for me, maybe a tad heavy, but that's nitpicking...Great thing about this shot is you have a wonderful photograph, and you can always refine the prints.

The low angle and the stark contrasts create a high drama here, Sohrab. The beautiful faces of these women are bereft of smiles, saying a lot about their fate... the tones are superbly balanced and the mood grave. It's as though you had taken this shot in another era... hard to believe it was just last year. A powerful work!

Lovely threesome.
The Three Graces of attitude. While their fate is united like the roots of a banyan tree (much alike their arms and saris) their faces show for each person a personal attitude towards the future. This is from left to right : hope, resignation and will.
The lefter still believes in good expectations, her clear bright eyes wide open (although a bit wishywashy processed, a higher grade is needed here).
The center woman is the shyest of the three. she's not hoping for anything good or bad but will more likely accept whatever comes.
The one leaning on the right side, she's a greek statue of dark marble, the lighting on her face has something neoclassical in the inner anger and will she shows, she's not going to be exploited, Ooh no, she's not.
Something that reminds me the FSA photos, Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans. Truly epic or historical quality.
(btw, you were totally right : he's completely senile ;) ...)

Hi Sohrab,
Is this a photograph from the NFI exhibition? Your theme was documenting the yet-to-materialise benefits of 'India Shining', if I read correctly! And this one does fit the criteria, if i may say so - the strong jaw line, the determined posture, the burnt sky reminiscent of the era of film-making and documentary I grew up in.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards,
Durba

I like your low pov very much. The treatment in b/w is really beautiful. Those eyes of the lady are so penetrating yet there is charm and sensation in the look. wonderful work.

Hello Sohrab,
It has been some time since I have been on Trekearth. And now that I came to see your work, I found this masterpiece. It is only trough the heart that one can see purely. Thanks.

Captivated by their stone-cut-no-feelings-fear feelings' faces..
How close..., eh?
The texture of their dresses... The hands...!!!
5-th.Pathetical... Never finished to the very end...
Bow, man...
Deep bow...

The sky...????
I'd go for burning, hellish white...!!!
