Not secluded like the original one but as steamy on a hot day afternoon.
There's something really fascinating with the indian women and the sea. So far of what I've seen, with the exception of remote Andamans and Lakshadweep, India is not blessed by beautiful turquoise beaches although the country shoreline is impressive in length.
Hence locals have to cope with rough seas, big waves, undertow currents and all sorts of fierce nature threats that we usually avoid at all costs when seeking for a seaside holiday.
However the lure for the sea is the strongest, women (more than men, I have noticed) congregate to get a fully suited bath in not more than 30cm depth and have some water fun... anyway, it starts to get dangerous deeper, as the sea brings one meter high waves, as an average.
A colorful show I could watch for hours, because of their grace, probably as fantasizing as turkish baths also.

Hi Luko, A lovely daily life photo with great colours & plenty of interest, I think you have captured the lady laughing superbly well & the overall composition is excellent, nice framing & well focused, kind regards Wilson.

You captured very well the fun of this moment.

This is a great portrayal of daily life, there are wonderful colours and you have captured the natural expressions of the ladies. They seem unaware of your presence. A good POV, regards, Jean

Exceptional shot, replete with good composition, light, color and exposure. Moreover, your note is succinct, but highly informative. The splash of colors echo the splash of the waves. Well done!
Warm regards from Virginia,

Great capture; very nice compo and super colors. And the notes ; a typical work for this site.

Why not bring the baby (Eos 400) to the bath, certainly beats bringing Papa along (that 5D and salt water...I dunno...)
Good dynamism of the cloth here, like in some classical French painting by David, Delacrois, Poussin.
Extremely accurate colors don't hurt either.
Another gem from your latest journey into the sub-continent.

24-105mm..I first checked the focal length of this photo..
If you had shooted this photo with 24 mm, This photo might not haven been existed more than couple of minutes. :D
This Photo shows fun & joy & love to sea by keeping distance with the sea.
Generally using BIKINI & sun bathing is impossible scene for India woman on Indian beach..though trend is changing slowly & you can find some exception in Goa & likewise.
This is elegant photo & PUNJABI is official swim ware in India ;)
Nice one Luko though not much Bold one..

I like this photo, the expression so natural and the colours are greats

And this year the swimwear will be colourful salwaar kameez;)
The sheer joy on the face of the girl at the back sums this scene up for me. The grace and composure we know of Indian women suddenly faced with a few cms of water is transformed into wild child-like play. A full-on colourful scene to set the week, Luko.

coco (30439) 2007-03-12 12:37
This scene is full of life and plenty of details. I love it.
Also good composition and technically is very good too.
Thanks for sharing.

Stunning once again Luko, you're really bringing out your best stuff over the last few days. So much joy you've caught and just a great moment in general.
Talia (242) 2007-03-12 15:10
The way they laugh and carry on and act as though you're not there is quite impressive. Surprising you were let into their world as such, but wonderful that you were!
Your composition is great and truly brings out the life in their beautiful garments!
brevbrev14 (140) 2007-03-13 6:55
Hi Luko, as usual...great emotions from your images!
this one is wonderful, full of life energy, smiles, colours...
I envy these women for that moment of joy and serenity!
luisafonso (862) 2007-03-14 5:44
I really can't cope right now with all your pictures as promised in my Intro. I am loaded with work these days. But I don't want to let this one pass... It's so good. The water looks like frozen ice, and the gray in it really boosts the colors of the women dresses. Love the expressions and the joy in them. I don't know why, but I am seeing biblical scenes in all the good pictures I comment - it must be the Lent - but those open arms are so inviting, so healing, so pure. Great light management.

Very interesting and beautiful post, Luko! I like the happy mood and the freshness here. Colours are also very nice!

How photogenic can a situation get......the life and rhythm of the moment - the sociability of the occasion......the heaviness of those wet clothes on their bodies....a lively, sensual, seductive image which draws me as a viewer into the intimacy of their chatter and laughter as if i might be among them.....but then as a man that might be a cat among the pigeons....so i must imagine myself invisible or a woman who can share in this moment of social sisterhood..........I enjoy this image so much!
best wishes Kev
bfly (5775) 2007-04-06 3:51
we have similar bathing scenes here :) some local women don't know how to swim but they enjoy sea a lot, fully clothed...sometimes even with their headscarves...
and in the Turkish baths, there are more ; they eat, sing, dance, it is still like a feast in some places (not in the turistic Istanbul baths)...
very nice photo, gives good energy..beautiful subtle colors and big smiles..

Great colors in this shot. I love the saris in both of your Indian women shots. I like the action of their movement and of the water moving back out.
Standa (1877) 2007-05-19 14:50
this is soo life moment, full of dynamism and joy. Amazing colours and sharpness, I appreciate also the composition and framing. Good work.
gelarsen (437) 2007-08-11 9:20
Good capture. The colorful garmets used by Indian women always contribute to enhancing the image. Your photo captured this element very well, but it also brought out the feeling of content expressed in the subject's faces. Well done.
