Photographer’s Note
Took this shot when we were in India. We took an auto rikshaw to the top of this mountain (trust me it was a scary ride)... was quite an interesting experience.
Monsoon Palace: The Monsoon Palace is a palatial residence in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan. It is known as Sajjangarh as it was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884 .It is 5 km from Udaipur and overlooks Fateh Sagar Lake.It is situated at height of 1100 ft. high above the surrounding and 3100 ft. from sea level The palace looks its best during the rainy season. It offers a panoramic overview of the city's lakes, palaces and surrounding country side. That is why it is called Monsoon Palace.Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary has been established near the palace.
The hillside is thickly wooded and the former rulers maintained this as a royal shooting preserve.
The white palace has high turrets and guards regulating each of the towers. The palace overlooks the Indian jungle which is inhabited by snakes and wild tiger.
The palace has a grand central staircase and many rooms and quarters. At the lower level there is a galley which temporarily houses killed victims and invaders who have been poisoned and hanged.
