Photographer's Note
One of the most amazing architectural view of Kokata, the Victoria Memorial hall. There must be some photographs to the photographer who shoot at Kolkata. I am seaching for some uncommon view, lucky to get some boys swimming and jumping . Here is one. Hope you like the Kolkata series.
About:
The Victoria Memorial, located in Kolkata, India is a memorial of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom who also carried the title of Empress of India.
The structure was designed by Sir William Emerson in an architectural style similar to Taj Mahal. Earlier he was asked to design the building in the Italian Renaissance style. But as Emerson was against the exclusive use of European styles, he incorporated Mughal elements. Vincent Esch was the superintending architect. Lord Redesdale and Sir David Prain designed the gardens. The work of construction was entrusted to Messrs Martin & Co. of Calcutta.
It was built between 1906 and 1921. It is a majestic white marble building at the southern end of the Maidan and surrounded by a sprawling garden. A black bronze angel known as Victory, holding a bugle in her hand was placed at the apex of the dome above the Memorial. It is fixed to its pedestal with ball bearings and rotates when the wind is strong enough. Unlike many other monuments of British Imperialism in India, it has been well maintained.

What a beautiful image/light/feeling/moment you caught here.
Its a bit of a shame that the circular upwelling of water is cut off so sharply at the bottom -- more room on the bottom would be ideal I think, but the photo still works very nicely.
thanks for sharing,
steve

Hi Partha,
What an unique touch to the monument!
Great composition and use of DOF.
The sky looks slightly burned out though.

Well seen. Good note. Like the exposure. Horizon not 100% straight. A bit more room below would have been nice. But overall very good. Alfred

Amazing shot of the memorial as well as the acrobatic boy..!! very very good POV and very well captured at the right time..!!
I just wanted to know was the boy jumping into the water or was he jumping out of the water..???? The water streaks from his feet and the ripples on the water seem to me as if he was jumping out of the water..!!!

Indro

Hello, Partha--
Another nice one, you really handled the backlighting well, placing the leaping figure against the most intense area of the reflection of the sun, and still holding some detail in the memorial. Maybe just a little bit mroe foreground would be nice, showing just a touch of the water in front of the most intense area of the disturbance.
Thanks!

Partha,
A wonderful moment all together.
The monument without life it would have been.
Your inclusion of the intense action & most appropriate light has given a touch of life to it.
Cheers,
Prem.

Hello, Partha!
Very nicely frozen movement of the jumping man. Well choosen composition - the main object is situated in a strong point of the picture. Good idea to make it B&W - color isn't important in this scene.

Hi Partha.
A really nice moment you caught in this picture.
Obviously, the best in the picture is, from my POV, what you told us in the note: it's unusuall.

Oh wow, this is a great shot, Partha. Somehow the body seems to be coming out of the water, rather than entering it. And a great contrast with the stately Victoria Memorial Hall in the background. Photos like this are at their best in B & W. Great atmosphere, well done! Regards,
Ryno

Hi Partha,
It is a wonderful, wonderful shot.
there is the stillness of the Memorial Hall
and the pond in front of it; and the dynamic
feeling aroused by the diving boy.
a great composition with great timing.
Congratulations!

Hi Partha
A good view of the memorial as a backdrop to the young acrobatist, the fact that he is coming out of the water is very peculiar and a plus to your composition.I will guess that the water was not deep at the starting place, just hope that he is jumping in deeper part.
Good work
