Durga Puja Art craft Photo

Photographer’s Note

Duga Puja, the largest cultural festival at West Bengal has just started today and here is the earliest presentattion for Trek Earth.
this is an artistic temporary construction of a housing structure along with adorning decorations all around to establish and worship the idol of Devi Durga for consecutive six days and nights. The local nomenclature for this beautiful and experimental art work is "Pandal".
A common practice is to construct "pandals" imitating any famous architectural wonder or recent happenings all over the world.
this is the pandal at College Sqare at Kolkata - a perfect replica of the famous Akshardham Temple of the Swamy Narayan group at Delhi.

Very nice photo from College Sqare...the greenish shade of the pandal is looking great with such gorgious light in surroundings...

great night shot. you illuminated the structure well. but i would suggest that you crop out the space above the structure its nott needed in the picture and will concentrate tha main subject

This is a good night shot & without a tripod (I presume in conditions) this is quite excellent. I did visit Kolkata during this Puja, but did not go to College Square..thanks to your picture I've now made a virtual tour

What can I say :) A stunning photo. It is perfectly clear, the colours and lights are in great harmony. The reflections on the water are magnificent. I believe, as a night shot it is realy very successful. I also checked the original one...it is good to give that chance to us, too.

Good evening Dr Bhunia. I am attracted to this photo here. The foregound is lovely and the background temple across the water is like the destination of this photo in my mind. To be constructive I would have liked to see that single lighted branch that covers clear view of the temple removed or perhaps you could have moved to avoid it from allowing a clear view of the temple. Just my opinion.. I do hope you understand. Otherwise the foreground and background are in competition with each other. Cheers.. Paul

Olá Dr. J. Bhunia, I've seen several shots of this big Festival in TE and here I see another impressive one. That replica is fantastic. Good thing that you put the real one in WS, for comparison. Excelent night shot and beautiful reflection effect on the water. Great foreground. A creative shot very well succeeded!

I like this night shot with the nice white building in the b/g and the reflections in the water. However, I find that the lighted tree in the f/g is somewhat distracting and takes away the essence of the beauty in the b/g.
