[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was wandering the streets of Varanasi well inland from the Ganga when this young lad walked past me. I could immediately see he was in a bad way so offered to help him with food and clothing. Some local chaps told me he was beyond help and to let him go his way. I felt very bad ! Only after when I examined my image did I discover the food sign !

Hi Christopher,
This is a pretty sad photo, though well captured. It definitely tells a story and shows another side of life that most of us are fortunate not to see. Well done for showing this sad reality.

Hi Christopher,
The contrasts in this photo are very thought provoking. Life sometimes can be very sad and unfortunate for some. Thank you.
Regards, Debbie.

Hi Christopher,
I don't know what to say. This is a very powerful photo. I like your comment, too. I can't say I 'like' the photo, but it certainly is well-spotted and shot. Good job. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Sarah

Hi,
'There but for fortune'...the world is so divided. A very haunting image. Thanks.
Dougie.

A truly tragic image Christopher. The fact that he is walking away makes it even more poignant. Regards, Roberto TFS

Hi Christopher,
thank you for sharing. What a world! I see this guy and I still can't beleave it.
It seems that he lost even his dignity.
I imagine that you felt bad.
Such an irony to see the "fast food" sign.
Nino

Very strong message. This is our world, despite the fact this guy is also responsible for his condition.
Greetings.

A hauntingly cruel image of a hauntingly cruel country.....this is the kind of 'humorous' juxtaposition a street photographer looks for - the 'fat and the thin' - the well placed sign that cleverly highlights something we see in the image......but in your image the sad and heart pulling tragedy of a country i love so much is shown in a simple and stark personal way - through the picture and your note .....the reality hurts.....

Stunning photo of contrast. I guess it shows how life can be for some. Very interesting photo, well worth sharing.

Hi Christopher,
nothing to add!!well seen.

Hello Christopher,

A very strong picture. Your note also reveals us that cultural differences are still very big and that it must have been difficult to not being able help him.

Thanks for sharing

Tony

Everything is here.Fast food...

It's a troubling image. There is little or no social support system there. Seering image. regards, c

Absolute poverty, zero, null. Sad, indeed.

Hello Christopher - I'm flabbergasted..lost for words... Your photo should be published in as many as possible daily papers all over the world. Thanks for sharing! Kind regards. ewa

I find this photograph very sad, to me it gives me a feeling of humiliation, putting myself in this boys position, but for him it is probaly and unfortunetly usual. Good documentative shot and good contrast. Very haunting

Rob

Honestly, this is one of the best pictures I have ever seen on here. Absolutely outstanding, but obviously an horrific microcosm of the injustice in the world.
An incredible moment and such a poignant capture, horrific to see such suffering. Thank you for sharing this image. All the best.

This catch makes well me sorrow, Christopher; to be thus opposite this reality which is poverty... without word!!! so much so that this man does not have even any more dignity! And contrast with this large man and the fast food... WHAT A POWERFUL IMAGE!!!!
Thank you for this division and especially to show us what the tourists never see and cheer to have to dare the comment you are only stronger!
Josy
