Photographer’s Note

Two steps from the South-Gate of the Meenakshi Temple one of the many Sari shops where Sarees and Sari slesgirls glitter in the night by the shops light.

She was shy but charmed when seeing me coming but she knew me already from before, passing here several times. To make her at ease I kept on talking while putting my camera on the counter between all the saris and aimed at her blindly, so here the result while she was listening to me :)).

Behind her the stamp to mark "SOLD" ... on the wrapped salesware of course ...

The Kanchi Silk Sarees are most famous in the South and in Tamil called podavai (sari means in Tamil actually 'yes' or 'ok'). The typical Dravidian style of draping the Sari is the pinkosu, or pleated rosette, at the waist.
She was not dressed in Sari but in a practical long shirt and wide trousers tight at the ankle with a loose scarf, a typical young women style-dressing.

Enjoy

a special for a Coimbatore and Punjab man ... :)).
The Iso's were getting high again here at 19hundred hours night.
