Calangute beach in Goa.

The ladies (surely european portuguese) sat there and where admiring the sunset. A last walk on the beach before wrapping the chairs and leaving the beach & just enough time for me to play with high ISO and low shutter speed from my camera.

Bonjour Alain,
résultat très intéressant et surtout très artistique, comme un dessin au crayon... Il se dégage quelquechose d'irréel de cette image.

C'est pour le moins inhabituel. L'effet est étonnant, à la limite du dessin au fusain. C'est très beau comme effet.

I think the image linked to flickr is much better (not that this one is bad, it just I have a difficult time seeing ghosts in a folding chair, at least give em an armchair ;-). the one on flicker is actually breathtaking. The two quite remind me of work by Mario Giacomelli (just google him, his is scattered around in different places), high contrast, blurry, full of mood, you will like him.
Another interesting contribution from you.

Un tableau cette photo, je la verrais bien dans mon salon celle-ci, toute une ambiance ici, tout un monde à elle seule, c'est bien pensé comme compo et ca a la touche alsom !
Je suis toujours bluffé par le contour qu'à pris ta galerie, et par ta vision différente des choses...moi perso ca me scotche.

Wonderfully creative! Yes, I love the Flikr photo, but this one also is quite good. It has inspired me to go the beach and experiment. [Hopefully tomorrow evening]

Salut Alain. J'aime beaucoup le côté "trait de crayon", l'image éphémère qui ne prend pas le temps de s'imprégner en couleurs dans la mémoire, ce qui s'estompe sans jamais avoir eu le temps de véritablement se réaliser; ce qui s'enfuit sans vouloir s'arrêter. Des fantômes, peut-être, des perceptions provenant de nos sens et ne laissant aucune trace si ce n'est celle des cendres voltigeant dans l'air pour disparaître dans le vent.

Nice one Alain, this effect works well. Very ghostly and has that feeling that a lot of photos from the early 1900's have. The photo forces us to guess the scene.

Je suis allé voir ta galerie surr flickr, il y a des bijoux incroyables. Compliments.
Pour cette photo, car il s'agit bien d'une photo, je viens d'écrire à Gal, mon trouble récent par rapport à ces photos "floues". Mais tout comme pour lui, le charme opère. Il y a une ambiance, une histoire, comme une douceur (l'inverse du piqué superlatif)
Un truc aussi qui est "amusant" et ce n'est pas pour t'ennuyer (non, non) mais t'imagines le pauvre gars qui fait une photo, et puis après il applique le filtre de toshop "fusain" la publie sur TE, et la un moderateur l'enlève pour exces de pp :o))
T'inquiètes, j'aime bien ton post, je suis bougon ce matin.

Very creative use of low speed, and perfectly fitting the name of Travelogue "Indian Dreams": it gives a dreamy mood, as if Indian colours, smells and atmospheren are anaesthetizing our minds.

Tu as un regard bien à toi sur l'Inde et ce qui me frappe c'est que je n'ai jamais vu rien de parail sur TE ou ailleurs..Tu as un approche très personnelle que j'aime beaucoup.

je trouve celle-ci plutot geniale, Alain. En toute honnetete tes images de l'Inde sont imbues d'une originalite hyper rafraichissante (l'Inde a ete tellement couverte sur TE...) Te voici a nouveau en pleine experimentation avec le flou et tu le manies tres, tres bien.

Hi Alain, Animesh's tribute of today to this photograph has led me to view it for the first time. The click to do so has been well worth it. The artistic beauty of the image is quite, quite beautiful. Had I not known better, I would have suspected that it was a drawing in charcoal. You have achieved a technical excellence here which is beyond further comment. A favourite of mine for sure. Stephen

I love this. great use of a slow shutter. The people are still easy to make out, but also abstract enough to be unique. It's like an ink painting. Well done man.

i really like this.. i mean... especially because you are trying to explore..
but i'm sure you have the eye to get something even more concrete....
the silhouettes are nice.. but maybe a more obvious and evocative body language could help..

Congratulations, Alain!

I also like to play with this kind of long exposure and grain through ISO, the effect is great!
The only thing I don't like 100% here is that your downcast to B/W is a little bit too cold for me, removing a 5% from the blue channel would give it a slightly warmer B/W still looking like true B/W without any sepia virage. (I've read your reply to peter, btw)
