Photographer's Note

The capital city of Hampi stetched across 26 square Kilometers with all it's magnificience.

But little remains of the basement of the King’s palace except a vast area of low platforms, seen here agaisnt the threatening sky. The palace which was mainly made of wood was completely burnt down by the marauding invaders in 1565.

Note the aquaduct running on the centre-left of the frame. I do wish there was some structure in the picture..something to attract the view...Hampi has a few of them. But here I wanted to show the broad layout of the once existing palace, a view I haven't seen posted in TE. I felt very sad when I saw the ruins, because it's us humans who've destroyed this marvellous place & the picture is a poignant reminder of what we are capable of doing...

Minutes after I took this shot, I had to run for cover as the heavens gave way.

Scanned from print..applied NI to clear visible noise. However some white spots do remain.
