such a long time i did not see you post Sohrab! how are you? nice framing for this one! all the birds and their shadows are in the frame! slight tilt of the horizon though;-)

Hi Sohrab. This is a very atmospheric shot - I like it. It's sparse, but dramatic, with the black shapes of the crows and their shadows flitting across the beach. The grey sky and choppy waves also contribute to the atmosphere. B & w was a good choice. Regards, Ryno

Interesting picture in B/W with great presence of the birds and their shadows.
I like the grain of the picture !

Sohrab, this to a certain degree reminds me of your image with the dog you posted sometime ago, nicely done again, it conveys the mood and atmosphere, no wonder folks like to go there for a stroll or to take a dip, looks like a place I would want to spend a quiet afternon at. The birds are a nice artistic touch, I don't see it only as that because beaches for me are associated with flying birds.
Nicely done Sohrab.

Interesting shot you got here, surely because of of the birds, formation in the air they create and especially the shadows on the floor they cast. B&w just brings it one step further. Pitty about the horizont but...

The crows with thier shadows make a graphical view.A little disturb regarding noise.
However well take.

This is wonderful, Sohrab. Love the lonely late morning feeling that you have evoked here. As usual your timing was perfect, the wings of flight pleasantly distributed, and my eyes soar into the distance.
chc (1468) 2006-05-01 16:30
You perfectly caught the flight of the birds. I like the details of the shadows. THe DOF is perfect and enables to grasp many details such as the people, the head of the swimmers etc. The impression of a calm and nice day is revealed. Well done. Christophe

Very atmospheric image. The birds and there shaodws really add the extra dimension to the shot.
arnabchat (7233) 2006-05-02 3:15
those crows make it look so different for a otherwise common view. Sohrab touch!

Hi Sohrab! This post was worth the wait ;o) I guess the birds are just taking off and because of that they give this impression of chaos not usually seen in a group of airborne birds. Their shadows makes it so much more interesting, Sohrab; The next big wildlife photographer :oD
Cheers and good to see you around here

back on form.
a unique shot, that has filled (half the) frame with drama. The birds, their shadows... this is very, very refreshing to look at. Also kind of like a puzzle, which bird matches which shadow? Answers on a postcard to....

the birds and their shadow form such an interesing triangle. with the people on the horizon and the triangle it is almost an arrow pointing to the right. very nice and exciting composition.
I love the grain and the texture it gives this shot.
rosiegirl (1596) 2006-05-02 18:58
The crop with the bird flying so close to the top of it is really great- it looks like he's ducking to fit in the box. I like how there are 7 shadows and only 6 birds shown; it gives it the feel of a bigger picture. I love how old this looks. Nice work as always.

great shot, those birds are just perfectly plced, looks like a relaxing place.
jinju (14265) 2006-05-03 3:41
the photo that sticks out in my mind from your gallery is Howrah Bridge, where the bird was what elevated the photo to greatness. Here I find the same effect. The birds are even a spiritual element. The shadows the birds cast in the floor are superb. The horizon? Who cares. This is not a photo of the beach (and you wouldnt take a pure landscape if your life depended on it), it is an action photo of the birds..and a tilt is very much a good thing here.

A very poetic moment from the nature.
It takes me to a different world.
The birds and its shadows on the beach is giving a different dimension.
Great creative capture.

Im remenber this place and the fisher village....
JasPahal (336) 2006-06-07 3:37
A nice shot, but not like your other ones... The birds make the shot; without them I don't know how I'd feel about it...
I shoot digital, so maybe I'm obsessed with details instead of content; that said, the beach has about the same tone and texture as does the sky right above it. The sky is darker there as well and I'm not sure if that was how it was when you took the pic; is it that way because of the way it was developed in the darkroom?
I've had a few comments about the tilt of the sealine in one of my shots, and as a beginner I've felt that that was a big 'no-no'. The tilt in this photograph is quite noticeable, but I'm not sure if it's a bad thing. It gives the viewer a sense of action, almost as if the birds scared you and by reflex you pulled back. Who knows! The shadows of the birds are great, by the way.
Sorry for the long ramble, one too many beers tonight!
Cheers, and goodnight,

nice picture, I like the arch made by the birds and their shadows. The b/w is very nice too.
vts_ch (2624) 2006-09-20 16:10
Gee, I discoverd your name under a forum about simon (flydragon).
I must admit that your are doing some great b&w shots, with a stunning tonal range and a huge compo.
I have to put you into my favs..
ilghiz (708) 2007-03-30 11:36
I like the composition: the birds, their shadows and the tilted hoirizon (together with the people) make an arrow that invites to the sea. Lucky you are to make such a shoot.
