Photographer’s Note

The Pillar closest to the viewer is the most famous pillar of Veerabhadra temple. Called the Aakaasa Sthambha (floating pillar), it hangs suspended! One can pass a cloth between the underside of the pillar and the floor (Check the WS for a closer view of the pillar’s base). It is rumoured that the British (when they were in power) were fascinated by this pillar as to how it can be in a ‘suspended’ state. They possibly tried to see whether it was really suspended & whether the pillar moved when pushed. As a result of these ‘experiments’, as the saying goes, all other pillars of the temple became tilted one way or the other....

Hi Angushman,
Fist thing to catch my eye(after the title!) is the real nice texture of the floor and pillars, super sharp! colors are nice too good compo.. then there is this hanging pillar story!! that i astounding!! never heard anything approaching that architectural mistery!!!!

I learn every day of your interesting notes, also your close-up to the WS is very interesting. Maybe the with light in middle through oversharpness, indeed this is a little bit disturbing, but I enjoy of your photography.

Again, a good exposure in difficult lightimg conditions. Your POV produces a good composition and great perspective. The image is detailed thanks to the sharp focus. I like the inclusion of the perspn. Best wishes

I like the left to right perspective and the view of the background (perhaps a little to bright but not really important). Colors are warmer here than in some of the previous shots. Any idea about the "floating" pillar mystery ? Is it not just suspended to the ceiling or are you talking about Indian magic here ?

This place is so beautiful the mystery for me is why it is "a beauty less known". Even the fact that the pillars are hollow is mysterious as how can you have hollow rocks??
You have captured wonderful detail again despite the obvious exposure difficulty. I like the composition so that the perspective of the receding pillars take our eye to the spectator at the end.

this is one of your better shots angshuman.

might i make some suggestions? firstly, perhaps you could try crouching down low and shooting this from a low angle. that might look good.

also, when you upload your shot, make sure it's straight ... this one isn't.

i like your photography and i'm always interested to see the india that you portray through your lens. good work ... keep shooting!

A very interesting note, thanks to her I have discovered that the pillar is really hanging! Very peculiar.
The photo is very well fitted, locating this pillar in foreground, and the perspective diagonal. The man gives life him to the set.
Very good colors and good lighting. The definition is excellent.

The perspective is very good, with excellent manage of lighting and magnificent sharpness that shows us the details on the pillars in a very clear and well defined image. great informative note. great view of the pillars a bit distracting fact is the overexposed elephant sculpture outside. but you color management is great , i like the way yoi preserve the natural color in every post.

Angshu, c'est une photo bien construite avec la perspective qui aboutit à l'homme assis. Les piliers donnent une impression d'un monde qui a oublié l'usage du fil à plomb c'est assez étrange.
