The Araku Valley is around 115 kms from the coastal Visakhapatnam.
The Araku Valley is home to 19 tribes, which are ethnographically related to the tribes of Orissa, further north. Valmiki, Bagata, Khond and Rotia tribes inhabit this valley and other areas of this district. As this is declared to be a protected tribal area, things have remained moderately controlled and the tribal people are slightly better off here than in the other areas of India. There is a museum in the Araku town showcasing tribal life and selling tribal artifacts for tourists.
Outside the museum building stands these two sculptures reflecting tribal art.
