Photographer's Note

The charming town of Mamallapuram is surrounded by beautifully shaped volcanic rocks. The community is full of sculputors who gave shape to the local rocks from dawn to dusk.
The combination of the constant noise of the hammers and chisels crashing against the rocks by the village sculptors together with the sea breeze, make this place unique in the world.
The volcanic landscape full of temples and ruins and the long beach with the fishing boats could keep you busy for at least a couple of days.
The locals are used to the tourists (both Indians and foreigners). Many works in the village numerous guesthouses and restaurants, but a few resist change and still make a living of the sea or carve the volcanic rocks into beautiful sculptures at the sculptor village.
