Photographer's Note

The Darjeeling Toy Train has been around for more than a century. Its extra narrow gauge (0.6096 m) tracks frequently run along (and even cross at many places) the main hill road connecting Siliguri with Darjeeling. The ride is supposed to be an experience -- though I have never tried it personally as I usually travel to the Darjeeling hills in my own car.

I took this picture a few km from Ghoom -- the toy train is being pulled by a relatively new diesel engine -- I would have preferred to see it with the ancient steam locomotive though. Tibetan style Chortens (Stupas) are visible in the background.
