Photographer's Note
The Himalayan mountains south of Leh, from a Delhi to Leh flight, taken early in the morning. I was sitting at the very front seat and the window was exceptionally clear, this was a normal passenger jet liner, and a scary old Indian Airlines craft at that.
Last upload until late october.
Flying High Again - (Ozzy Osbourne)
Got a crazy feeling I don’t understand
’gotta get away from here
Feelin’ like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin’ for the sun to appear
Mamma’s gonna worry
I been a bad bad boy
No use sayin’ sorry
It’s somethin’ that I enjoy
’cause you can’t see what my eyes see
(I can see it, I can see it)
And you can’t be inside of me, flying high again
I can see through mountains watch me disappear
I can even touch the sky
Swallowing colors of the sound I hear
Am I just a crazy guy (you bet)
Mamma’s gonna worry
I been a bad bad boy
No use sayin’ sorry
It’s somethin’ that I enjoy
If you could be inside my head
You’d see that black and white is read
Flying high again
Flying high again
Flying high again
Flying high again come on and join me
Flying high again
Flying high again
Flying high again
Flying high again come on and join me
Daddy thinksI’m lazy he don’t understand
Never saw inside my head
People think I’m crazy but I’m in demand
Never heard a thing I said
Mamma’s gonna worry
I’ve been a bad bad boy
No use sayin’ sorry
It’s somethin’ I enjoy
Flying high again
Flying high again
Flying high again
Flying high again

Hey Tan..you are leaving again?? Lucky you! Will you be on holidays in Oz for two months or are you going for work? No need to say to take great pics...you do that to perfection anyway...So I am looking forward to late october! This shot is great! Leh is one of my top dream destinations! I am fascinated by the Hymalaya and its inhabitants.. and I hope I can also sit in a plane over these mountains some day!
Have a nice trip! Regards, Léonie

Salam Tan
Vous méritez le nom de Phileas Fogg le héros de Jules Verne dans "Le tour du monde en 80 jours".
Le relief est impressionant et la composition n'est pas déteriorée par le hublot de l'avion.
Salam Tan
You deserve to be called Phileas Fogg the hero of Jules Verne in "Around the world in 80 days". The relief is very impressive and the composition is not deteriorated by the window plane.

Hi Tan,
I remember flying from Delhi to Leh (back in 1987!) but the weather was cloudy and the windows were dirty... you were really lucky!
This is a beautiful shot, with great light and colors.

Hi Tan, I don't think I've ever seen such a clear shot from an airplane like this. And what a landscape. You have indeed captured the ruggedness and beauty of the Himalayas. Thanks for the song too, Ozzie rules! :) Nicely done Tan.

Hi Tan,
A great clear and colourful shot of this massive stretch of mountains. The shadows enhance and one can see every crevice and cleft. An amazingly clear shot from the air. This is just superb work. Keep them coming...

Tan I have to say that this is one of your very best. I see the meaning behind the poem/song. But with this photo I think you have been a very very good good boy. I love the distance that you cannot see from the mountain top. And best of all the morning low light has created amazing shadows. Cheers to you and I hope you have a good weekens ( whats left of it)

Hi Tan
Love those mountains! Strangely enough I was in the very front seat as well on my recent Leh flight and, remembering your previous, I tried to take a few shots. I had to take the polariser off though as it was doing weird stuff witht the windows. I'll post up one as a comparison (when I eventually get my slides back). I am sure it cant be as good as your beautiful capture.
cheers, david

Your comments about "Scary" airlines is hilarious. I just couldn't stop laughing. I made my first flight in Indian Airlines when I was in 8th grade. I was excited about flying so I couldnot downgrade it. However, after travelling in the US and international, I had an opportunity to travel only once between Bombay and Chennai and I certainly liked it. Hospitality was at par compared to the Lunthansa I flew the prior night. I heard several horror stories about their International flights (AIR INDIA). Hope they change in this global competition. Your picture is remarkable as usual!

Hello Tan, these mountains are beautiful. The ridges seem to go on forever with layer after layer receding into the distance. It's a wonderfully sharp light bringing out the details superbly.

great sharp picture, the view is good and I like how you cant see any part of the aircraft. The window must have been clear too. When i went to Leh I did not take any pictures on the plane..they told us we couldnt. :(
