No, We Have (Yes) Bananas Photo

Photographer’s Note

A typical street seller in Delhi. I shot from across the street, waiting for a gap in traffic, and had to handhold a telephoto in somewhat low light, but it seemed worth the price I paid technically for that.

This photo appears in the Lonely Planet book "Delhi {Citiescape}", published October 2006. This is not a guidebook--it's a small picturebook that attempts to capture the feel of the place.

No question that the great part of this photo to me is the colors involved. From the yellow of the bananas almost matching his headwear perfectly, to the rusty red of the other man's sweater...the beiges, browns, plus the misty smoke rising up...just a great scene. Wonderful colors and the low light really sort of adds to the richness, I think.

I like as well very much the colours in this picture. The turban makes echo to the banana, and the whole picture is very homogenous in the tints.

I like the overall earthy tones, all colours compliment one another! you must be very proud of yourself to finally capture this shot...worth the waiting definitely!

You came up with a very nice burnished light, and also caught abit of the action or bartering. Maybe not a shot you can print too large, but quite adequate for the screen.
