India celebrates her 65th Republic Day today.
I think the Indian Armed forces has played a huge role in protecting the Indian borders from foreign invasion and has helped to keep the democratic and republic fabric of India intact. Without being over ambitious it has been silently carrying out its duty over the years.
Pictured above is the Kargil War memorial in the Indian state of J&K. Here in 1999 India successfully snubbed an invasion by the Pakistani Army, but many young Indians had to make the supreme sacrifice of their lives. I dedicate this photo to those brave soldiers for whom we sleep in peace.
Thanks for visting.

A fine homage to these fallen men. I like the point of view with the mountainous backdrop and the light and colours. Clarity is superb, enabling us to read the inscriptions on the gravestones.

la composizione è eccellente e particolarmente suggestiva anche per la particolare localizzazione del cimitero.
Peccato che la luce all'atto della ripresa non fosse delle migliori e non ti abbia permesso di fare una fotografia più contrastata.
Ciao e buona domenica

Namaskar dear Subho
Ahh, I remember that this is your national day. It is also our national day here in Australia. So Happy Australia and India Day!
The photo is very sobering and sad. There is a real sense of sadness when I view these lonely graves and read your note. Although I am well aware of the conflict between your two countries, I do not understand it and so will not comment. I just hope that your beleaguered country one day soon will see peace.

A touching tribute and a beautiful place. I know it is strange to find beauty in a cemetery, but they are places I spend a lot of time, as they give space to contemplate and appreciate the lives past, as you have done so well here. As well as that, seeing a post like this from India makes me compare to the cemeteries I know here in Ireland, and the differences in our worlds. This is a spectacular presentation before the expansive mountains, and the colors of yellow and green are beautiful.
I love the flags on the graves too. Very beautiful post. Happy republic day to you and all in India.

First of all I congratulate you Subho for a very good selection for the day.
Excellent perspective. Used the arrangement of tablets nicely and the path very well placed in the frame.
The composition with the mountain and long shadows create the solemn atmosphere perfectly.

The repeating patterns of the headstones make this a very compelling photo. The abrupt transition from vegetation to bare hillside is remarkable.
I see that the headstones are engraved in English. Is English still an/the official language of India?

Point de vue intéressant sur ce mémorial en hommage à ces nombreuses personnes décédées pour leur pays. Les couleurs de l'endroit sont très belles. Note intéressante. Salutations.

It is a vast place and a sobering reminder of the ultimate sacrifice paid during warfare and a terrible sense of loss and sadness as one walks around, the rows of stones that go on and on and on...
It's a brilliant sunny day well shot of a lonely cemetery and there's nobody about and no sound to be heard, but a moving image!! Well done shot

We have many of such places in Europe, very sad. You have captured this War Memorial Cemetery in great way. The light is very good and I like how you have included the mountains I BG.
Wish you a very nice week ahead.

Subho, good view of that cemetery memorial dedicated to soldiers died during Kashmir conflict with Pakistani army, what a beautiful area between Kashmir and Ladakh cultural regions and different religions too. It reminds me the Mumbai cinema movie, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, jusqu'à mon dernier souffle in French...
High resolution, pretty fine colors, all the best, see you

First late but stil valid
Happy Independence Day! , I received impresive images of the military parade that took place in New Dehli
Touching homage to the falling men , let wish them to rest in peace in such beautiful place
Having been at the frontier next to Amritsar, quite understand the problem

The distance between the cemetery and the mountains is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details, the colours of the cemetery and of the mountains. The good luminosity is bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.
