Shot taken at Ganga Sagar Mela.. You can see the SADHU BABA (Monk).. He was playing a Dugdugi ( A Indian Musical Instrument)..
About Ganga Sagar Mela:-
Sagar Island lies on the continental shelf of Bay of Bengal about 100 km (54 nautical miles) south of Kolkata. It belongs to the Republic of India and is governed by the State government of West Bengal. The island is large — with an area of around 300 km². It has 43 villages and a population of over 160,000.
This island is a famous Hindu pilgrim place. Every year on the day of Makar Sankranti (mid of January), hundreds of thousands of Hindus gather to take a holy dip at the confluence of river Ganges and Bay of Bengal and offer puja in the Kapil Muni Temple.
Gangasagar pilgrimage and fair is the second largest congregation of mankind after the holy Kumbha Mela. The latter is observed once in four years at alternate locations in north, central and central-west parts of the country, Gangasagar fair and pilgrimage is held annually on the Sagar Island’s southern tip in the Ganges delta atop the Bay of Bengal. That makes Gangasagar all the more distinctive.
In 2007, about 300,000 pilgrims took the holy dip where the Hooghly meets the Bay of Bengal on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. For the rest of the year about 500,000 people come to the island.Almost five-hundred thousand pilgrims thronged Sagar Island in 2008.

Nice to see you after an interval Indrasish,
And that with a stunning portrait. Wonderful colors and clarity. A very good moment captured. Very nice use of light and keeping the background dark, is a wise decision.
Kajer chaap komechhe?

hello Indrasish ~
a rich and intriguing portrait that jumps out from the black b/g. i like the look of concentration in his eyes and the intimacy we get from this close-up. good clarity, especially in the eyes, considering you were catching him in the act of playing this instrument.

Congrats for this wonderful portrait. Besides the light and expression on his face, I also liked very much to see the hands in front and the monks skin. Thanks for sharing.

A very fine portrait of this most interesting character, and as Alekhya says above, the lighting is perfect with the dark background an ideal compliment to it. Great colors and a very interesting expression too.
Thanks as always, always good to see your posts.

One of several great portraits in your gallery. You have captured the sadhu at a fine moment in a superb light. The colours are strong and vivid and the photo is nicely cropped. The dark background is perfect.
