The Taj Mahal does not need any introduction. One can spend hours looking in awe at its perfect shape and decorations.
When I found myself in front of this masterpiece, in late 2004, I was only starting to experiment with digital photography and all I had was a cheap DV3300 (which doubled up as an MP3 player!). But with such a wonder in front of the lens, with the low haze reflecting the morning light, and being early enough for the area to be almost empty, it was really hard to not come up with a good shot!
Happy 2014 to all members of TrekEarth!

This is a spectacular shot of the Taj Mahal. I saw it just three years ago, but was stricken by a heat stroke before I could fully appreciate it. The magnificent edifice, despite the limited camera, appears as regal as any modern Nikon or Canon digital camera could have captured it. A friend whom I was visiting had warned me, "Only mad dogs and Englishman come to India in July," but I was there to give a talk. I was unable to shoot The Temple of Love without a crowd, as you clearly succeeded in doing. I just uploaded your photo to the group theme, Domes, Spires and Minarets.
Happy New Year,

A place to which I cannot resist
Hard to post an original picture from the Taj Mahal, but you did it with these blueish/pinkish halo around this mythic and sublime temple to love
My best wishes for 2014

A fantastic shot of this iconic building. The early morning light adds to the magic of the place and gives a dreamy mood to the shot. You've really captured the very essence of this timeless symbol. The green grass patterns add a lovely colour contrast to this beautiful image. Very well done.
All the very best for 2014.

Bravo!
Bonne année 2014!

I do like this one...the place's been photographed a million times but your light is very special. Sunrise is a precious moment to enjoy.
Thanks and best wishes!

You mention this was taken on a cheap old camera, and by mentioning that you prove that all the most expensive equipment in the world matters not if you don't have the eye, and if you don't have the timing. You have shown both beautifully in this scene. Magical, mystical with the early morning mist and the light hinting at the new day, while bringing a tempting amount of color to the world.
A beautiful moment of this iconic place.

The absence of people makes this picture great, as well as the soft morning light.
