this shot was taken in a season where one least expects, actually doesn't expect,to see clear skies and far away snow capped himalayan peaks.but i was lucky enough to get this view during the monsoons.the peak in view is kanchenjunga.
KANCHENJUNGA : Kangchenjunga is the third highest peak in the world. It rises with an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft) in a section of the Himalayas called Kangchenjunga Himal that is limited in the west by the Tamur River and in the east by the Teesta River. Kangchenjunga is located on the boundary between Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim. It is the highest peak in India and the easternmost of the peaks higher than 8,000 m (26,000 ft). It is called Five Treasures of Snow after its five high peaks, and has always been worshiped by the people of Darjeeling and Sikkim.

Wow!!! Beautiful - wonderful scenery & it is so rewarding to capture a good image of the rugged snow capped mountains - most times they are covered with clouds A lovely image - I took a photo of The Matterhorn early this year so I can appreciate how difficult it is to capture these shots.

Lucky indeed to get this gorgeous weather in August. But I would say you got it in the nick of time, because I can see the clouds rising from the valley beneath poised to engulf the spectacle for the rest of the day perhaps. Beautiful shot! the lush green fg presents good contrast with the clouds and majestic mountains in the BG.

What a majestic view! In the distance are some of the highest points on earth, in the foreground are emerald green meadows, separated by a mysterious fog. Thanks for this sublime postcard from Chitrey.

One more beautiful picture of indian Himalaya in your gallery!
The colors are nice, and I like this cloud in the middle of the picture.

What a fantastic juxtaposition of lovely greens and serene blues ... and of course the majestic K with Narsing, Pandim, Kabru and all of them!
Yes, this strong contrast is available in this time of the year, only if the weather is as good as this.
And you have utilised it wonderfully with great details and lovely composition.
With best wishes,

Marvellous landscape photo. The perfectly lit mountains are the main focal point of this photo. There is a great use of depth of field to hold the viewer in the foreground houses as well as mountains in BG, and the excellent lighting conditions have allowed for very good color saturation. The overall impact is very strong. Very well done.

Splendid mountain scenery captured here. I like how the snow covered-peaks fill the sky and contrast with the lush green foreground. The attractive lighting brings out the natural colours to great effect. Smart composition. Well done.

the distant snow capped mountains add enormous interest and drama to a very well composed landscape.
Full of interest with the bubbling clouds it`s a fine piece of travel photography.

I went to Darj in winter 2000 and got similar shots. Good density levels and sharpness. Wonderful view of the eastern Himalayas and Kanchenjunga. Excellent saturation and punchy light contrasts. Well framed and composed. Tfs!

A breath taking wide space and a great amphitheatre of peaks to gaze upon...
Very nice early morning shot at perfect time of day, the side-lighting has cast shadows that make the mountains nicely three-dimensional and the darker green fg provides a nice colour contrast against blue sky. The mountain is rather blueish though, which is a common problem with mountain photographs. Masking off that area and desaturating the blues and magentas in it will lessen that effect. This is my sincere opinion and suggestion, hopefully acceptable to you. What a capture and and crisp feel! Congrats

hello Dwaipayan - This is a part of India I would love to visit, the air and light give the colours and clean look and in this shot the contrasts across the scenery are very good. The FG interests me, is this a series of greenhouses and if so what grows in them? It looks quite sophisticated with the solar panels. Moving into the frame from the Fg we see evidence of the clouds building and soon those mountain peaks will be hidden. A fine shot. Walm regards rosematy

You must have had an amazing experience so high in the mountains. The green FG is nicely balanced with the snow capped, rugged mountains. The low cloud formation adds plenty of atmosphere - very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

Beautiful contrast between the lush green and crisp mountain blue. I also like the layering effect, especially with the low lying clouds dividing the Himalayas from the tropical vegetation below.
