What I read in the eyes of this child is his sadness, curiosity still alive, but the lack of hope and the distrust due to the many bad things already seen and the chains belong to one of the lowest castes

Hello Valter - Again your talent for portraiture shines through, this is exquisitely done and a shot you should be very proud of. The tilt of the head, the curious and penetrating stare ... there's a question behind those eyes. I love the way the child's hair is lit and is just distinguishable from the black BG. I wish I had your eye and talent for such subjects. Top marks! Warm regards Rosemary

I think everywhere in so called art galleries selling tasteless paintings you can find portraits of small boys with large eyes and a tear running down the cheek. This reminds me of such painting, only that this is real, and there are no tears but accusing, angry eyes. Besides, this is much better rendered with excellent, expressive tones of B&W. It's very well done and a haunting image telling us about the great injustices in India, and elsewhere.

you show us here how excellent portrait photographer you are!The portrait is moving and meaningful, but also sad, what the face of this little child conveys.Sad to see how many children struggle poverty.Very good portrait and document about less "shiny"side of India.
For me also the way you process the image in B&W is a masterpiece(it really makes we perceive the scene even more expressive and profound).
I reached today my 20 comments,so I can´t give points, but wanted to comment this meaningful image today as it´s really important contribution here on TE!Sad to see just a few people have appreciated it so far.
Wish You a nice evening and happy week

As far as photography goes this is an excellent portrait of this dear little child.
BUT - HOW SAD It makes me cry poor little soul... I can never understand in todays World why we should see children with such neglect & pain in their faces...
Billions of dollars etc etc from all around the World is donated time & time again - so it breaks my heart to see that in some cases there is no money getting to this child.
Sorry to sound so dramatic - I hope this message finds you well & in good spirits?
Dawn. [ sorry for the long delay in returning your critic ]

what a gaze it is! Love the eyes... Love the little tilted face... Love the rustic appearance. The criticalness of the economical condition can be seen in his face although... A sharp, well timed frame, which is appealing too much. Tfs.

Another brilliant B&W portrait, Valter - though you have so many woderful and diverse shots, every time you post one of these it takes my breath away. Your title is spot on here, as his eyes are clearly the focus of this shot - everything about it leads you right to them, and then they stare piercingly back. Beautifully lit as well. Thanks.

Excellent light management and composition.
The DOF is also great. B&W makes the picture

As I always say that when you photograph in b/w you photograph souls

Grande lavoro, complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona serata,

wonderful shot, as it may even look as if you took this in a studio with perfect lighting!!!! thats how good it looks.
its the tilt of the head, and the eyes, and the dirty hair/clothes that make it work.

Face of uncertainty! It's wonderful portrait, quite intense and the story with it is very interesting. I feel almost hypnotised by the eye contact, get a feeling of his wanting for nothing sense and humbling. Lovely that the way you've got down nice and low to meet the child's eye nearly level, As always you pp is of high quality and tkhs for sharing, Congrats

A portrait that tells a story through her expression with those peentarting eyes. The black BG frames her very well - excellent and meaningful photography.
Kind Regards, Ann

This is a great portrait for sure! Even being so young this child must have been through a lot. It's impressive the way he looks at you. Great focus and PP. Surely perfect in b&w!
cjmm (4479) 2013-08-21 14:56
Not only the eyes, but also the position of the head relative to the body, and the overall expression in the face are amazing.
What we can read in those eyes is open to the imagination of each of us, but what is really certain, is that this one is a great photo.
In addition to that, from a technical point of view, from the composition through to the B&W conversion, everything is flawless.
