Beautiful People, a photo from Goa, West

Photographer's Note

I did not want it to be cynical, or satirist, but unfortunately it is reality, I was attracted by the strong contrast of this place, the large billboard located in the middle of a field of homeless and without caste, I also think that these people are really "Beautiful people" and in most cases much better of educated and rich people. In my humble opinion at birth the human beings are all equal.

Hello Valter,
very good document about the real life in India.I agree with that,what you wrote in your note.But unfortunately I think we´re in minority.Sad.And the billboard stands in contradiction to what we see.Anyway you had a good eye and sense of situation here.

Hello Valter,

Your note is very touching. These homeless people have plenty to give ie love. Humility doesn't come with money. I specially feel for the young children who have no choice here. This is what we cll Karma. The photograph is well taken with brightness, colors and sharpness. Like that little girl on the left with a curious look.

A very interesting and thought provoking note you have given us. I quite agree - we are all born equal and we are all the same when we are dead. No-one's life is any more important that anyone else's.

And this is a sad photograph with the big sign talking of "beautiful people" and with the poor homeless people camping out in terrible conditions in front of it.

A fine commentary on life and a picture with lovely colours, perfect exposure and excellent detail.

Not cynical at all, Valter.
The contradiction is not to be avoided, and your perspective is fine: this people have no choise probably, they are not caring for the sign above.

A striking contradiction very well spotted. That can most possibly occur almost all of the countries suffering unequal distribution of wealth. That's the ugly face of capitalism. una fotografia con splendidi colori, luminosit`a e chiarezza che mostra un lato oscuro della cultura e societ`a di oggi, una contradizione assoluta. Il messaggio commerciale non poteva essere pi`u strano in questo ambiente dove infatti nessuno lo pu`o leggere. Un' ottima osservazione ben ricordata sul divario assurdo dei mondi. Scena classica... colpisce sempre il contrasto tra ricchi e poveri! Pero li hai avuto un bel cielo che da colori, non come adesso! (da quando sei partito, c'è stato un giorno con un cielo OK... :-(

a photo with very critical elements against the society. It is a common scene in many places and very sad too. Great photo, I think a B&W version would have more impact if you are trying a journalistic style photo.

Powerful image that tells a story and excellent reportage. I like the effect you have created for It does look that poverty is everywhere. A well captured, and thoughtful piece of photo journalism of current situation, the difference in socio economic standing but the reality of life is there. The photo shows exactly what you want it to show, I particularly like your composition providing a much more visually interesting focus straight onto the main interest. Good tones and presentation with so much detail, those colors are really nice suitably conveying the message and atmosphere. Fabulous reportage style shot Great work. Congrats.

...sembra proprio una di quelle situazioni che a volte si vedono nei film,da una parte la pubblicità rivolta a una società di consumi e "il risultato " di cioè che produce lo sfruttamento di risorse umane e naturali,l'arricchimento dei pochi a discapito della povera gente!

Sometimes cynicism seems to be the foundation of society. I understand that this expression of ghastly unequalness was irresistible to a photographer with an eye for details. Not many further comments are necessary. Technically it is a faultless photo, but that feels less important.
