Photographer's Note

The woodblock printingis widely used in Jaipur for textile printing, is a very old method, the first findings from China and Egypt.
The method consists in a block of carved wood which is dipped in color and after resting on the textile or paper

Ciao Valter,questa foto mi puzza di visita alla fabbrica tessile inserita nel tour per fare comprare ricordi ai turisti a prezzi esorbitanti..ehehe...e' comunque molto interessante ed e' davvero notevole l'immagine con una prospettiva meravigliosa ed una gestione perfetta dei differenti livelli di luce.Buona Domenica e complimenti,Luciano

very nice picture documenting the daily life and work in India.And the first thing that strikes our eyes here are these marvelous and vivid colors.It´s unbelievable how much they´re saturated and distinct from other pictures from other countries.Excellent work Valter!

Ciao Valter,

I have used this method at school with the children. I didn't realise that it was still used on this big scale.
For a vivid photograph, the colours are wonderful. From you pov, the red fabric, with its converging lines, makes a strong lead with the figure well positioned for our attention.
Some may find the second figure distracting but, for me, he helps to set the context of the shot.

Quella 5D Mk II gestita bene la luce, vero? Incredibile, niente rumore al ISO 1000. Bellissimi i toni rossi che dominano la scena. Mi piace anche la cattura del mestiere artigianale. Lo sharp e composizione sono impressionante. Grazie per la condivisione.

Very similar in setting with the pictures I took in Ajrakhpura in Gujarat...have posted one here in TE but not with this linear perspective. The red colour is indeed eye catching & you've superbly handled the difficult exposure. Fine work!

Hello Valter,
A fine composition where the long red cloth is extremely eye-catching and also gives the picture fine depth. It is well assisted by the cloths hanging from the ceiling. The light falls nicely from the open doors and the attractive traditional style windows. The printer was captured at a good moment when he was leaning all over the red cloth. His streched out body makes two diagonals opposing the long red diagonal.

Hello Valter - Apart from the wonderful red cloth which draws the eye, the light from the open door and windows casts a lovely light on the cloth and the man's back. Your POV shows the extent of the fabric which the man is printing and one realises how labour intensive these hand-crafted items are. A fascinating DL shot. Warm regards Rosemary

A very interesting picture with the red color dominates in each corner.I like how the light penetrates the brick walls. Also the symmetry and the textures from the fabric is wonderful.

The more I see your Rajasthan's pictures, the more I get tempted to visit the place.This is a nice daily life image showing the hard working people. You have very nicely presented this man printing on the fabric. The colors are very vivid. I like the way you have covered the other man also doing the same. The lighting, sharpness, depth and colors are fantastic.

I tried to equate this work to what would be a modern printing technique, Neve saw a such, i admit.
the red is intense and beautiful.
