Hier, notre ami Angshuman, nous expliquait que les meilleures positions pour assister au cérémonial de la Ganga Aarti à Varanasi, étaient sur les gradins ou sur une embarcation sur le Gange
Il y a une troisième solution, moins au contact direct des acteurs mais donnant une vision d'ensemble, sur la terrasse du restaurant qui surplombe la scène

To Angshu

Yesterday, our friend Angshuman was telling us that the most strategic places to attend the Ganga Aarti celebration in Varanasi, were from a ringside seat or from a boat on the river Ganges
There is a third option, less at the direct contact of the officiants but giving a wider view, from the terrace of the restaurant overlooking the ghats

Yes, this is a great overview of teh celebrations. Well balanced picture with good use of the light provided & a considered composition. A great appetizer to learn more about this big blind spot on my travelling atlas.

love the orange color from the vertical poles in the dark, and the smoke.

Hi Patrick,

I have seen similar shot of this event from Angshuman close up. It is really nice to see this form afar and the overall view of the event and celebration. I like this POV as well, you really have wonderful detials consider the light, even the people on the boats are visible through the smoke. Good diagonal composition.

a good follow-up to Angshu's photo. Its tempting to get as close as possible to a scene ike this, but as you prove here with some forethought and a good POV we can capture the atmosphere if not the details of the scene

Great shot of the same place which Angshuda shows yesterday. You captured it from a different POV with a wider view from high POV. Nice light and depth. Like the use of diagonal which made it special, I think. Really another great work on this place. Tfs.

This is a great POV Patrick and although we may not see the finer detail of the ceremony, I think the overview is great. Your shot is atmospheric; the light and smoke from the incense create the ambience which you have captured so well. Excellent composition and management under less than ideal light. j'ai préféré de loin voir la scène d'un bateau que de ce point de vue que je reconnais bien.Il n'empêche que la composition est excellente,offrant de belles diagonales et un très bon découpage de la photo en 3 parties,et un superbe rendu de la fumée.Excellent!

Ta position surélevée permet de rendre de façon impressionnante l'atmosphère de cette cérémonie. Belle composition plaçant dans la lumière et en diagonale les "acteurs" de la cérémonie, la fumée accentuant le côté mystique et un peu mystérieux de la scène.

Je viens de voir ta nouvelle capture d Inde, hier j avais vu celle de Angshuman, superbe

Ici tu presentes une très différent de l'angle plus éloigné et confortable (hotel& terrace), presque un panorama de la cérémonie

Belle photo de cette Aarti qui me rappelle de superbes souvenirs de Varanasi. J'adore les projecteurs sur la fumée et cette lumière qui restitue bien l'atmosphère.

Hi patrick, I also learned about aarti ceremony from Angshu's photos. My friends were surprised when we went there. I also made photos from similar side. Then I moved closer. beautiful photo and very interesting ceremony. I like the diagonals here.

Thanks my friend to show another dimension to the aarti in Varanasi. I didn't try this option but for sure looks great. What I love is the smoke, the play of light with it & the way we can see the boats trough the smoke. I took my pictures of the aarti which happens on the right of this one. Do you remember that one as well?

Your POV was certainly a good one! The diagonal of the ceremonial platforms is excellent but best of all is the smokey atmosphere and lovely colours. An amazing capture.

Les lasers et feux d'artifice de scène font piètre figure, comparés à l'exotisme de ce spectacle rituel.
L'aura commune qui synchronise les acteurs semble hypnotiser la foule.

nice vibrant picture.love the atmosphere created by the smoke the posture of the aarti doing men, and the convergent diagonal from right bottom to left top created by the focus light due,to the camera angle.very nicely framed and good light management.
