Naga Sadhus at the Sita Ram festival. Naga Sadhus are followers of the Shiva sect, they are the representatives of Lord Shiva. The distinguishable features of this sect of sadhus include long knotted hair and naked body smeared with ashes.

Hello Elaine,the light in the hair of the two nearest Sadhus and on the tree trunk lifts the picture enormously for me,I also enjoy the direct eye contact being made.
Lovely photography,so much detail.

PS I think this could be as good,if not better in BW,.

I was just thinking aloud, what clamour it would have been to capture these Naga Sadhus if in Kumbh mela & here you had them all to yourself! And they seem happy to oblige as well! :-))
Good triple portrait, even in backlight...sun light seems to have been protected from by the tree

it's always fascinating for me to see some saddhus and except in photo,I never saw any naga sadhus.I love the faces of these ones,the umbrella and the copper pot,and the light in their hair is magnificent,illuminating the picture.

I have a delay of 15 hours for departure,so time to comment on some great shots,like this one.
You had difficult light here but managed it very well.
I like this arrangement of these four with umbrella.
The pose of the one in the right foreground reminds me to a buddha statue.

Hi Elaine!
Just fabulous. Another fine photo with a lovely balance of figures.....some luck and your fine eye knowing where to stand and how to frame it! Some gorgeous clarity, and for me the most wonderful aspect of this particular photo, apart from the amazing faces and subject matter, is the wonderful backlight that is playing in the hair and the beards of some of the men. The umbrella, as well as being an important item for the Sidhus seems to have really blocked out the harsh light for you as well. A real classic! Fine work, warm regards,
