Photographer's Note

Once the capital of the region, Patan is an old city with many Hindu and Jain temples and where it's possible to find the famous Patola silk saris.
It was near one of those temples that I saw this little girl. She was so lost in her thoughts that she only noticed me after.

Very pleasant picture with good uniform bg colours and great how the colourful dress of the girl stands out against them. The fancy bike is a bit of a surprise. The crop there is very sharp, but somehow it balances out with that bit of laundry hanging there.

I can see why you were so captivated by this scene and me too. This is an excellent shot, a well-spotted photographic opportunity. Well framed but you have also observed the possibility of a good image. You have taken advantage of the small areas of stunning blue/orange as central focal of interest in the picture to create a very compelling image and your trained eyes are able to see this contrasting spot within the muted environment. The speck of complimentary colors add nicely with lots of local flavors. The cutie tells her own story with her stunning gaze. A very well done, a delightful shot Ana, Love it! Congrats.

Hello Ana,

I am very relieved to see this image. They may belong to a different part of the world. But how they are similar in a universal appeal that they have. She looks indeed lost in thinking and also has an adult like look. But if we observe all the toys scattered around her as Paolo says, it reminds me that they are all the same in spite of their difference in origin, religion, or standard of living. I really hope that she will be able to stay a child just as long as her environment allows her. She can be like her only once in one’s lifetime. This is my only wish in viewing this photograph. Thank you Ana for this image.

i can see how this photo may get missed, as it doesn't really make a strong visual impact in the small thumbnail version...but when its opened it, its fully appreciated.
there's a tenderness and almost a sadness that can be felt as a viewer.
i'm surprised by the emotional impact.

la actitud pensativa y la mirada de esta niña son fascinantes, y tú estabas allí para inmortalizar este momento con una foto fantástica, espontánea y directa, sin adornos, que solamente congela una décima de segundo de su vida.
Has hecho un trabajo espléndido, y no es fácil en este tipo de fotos casi periodísticas.
Buena composición, la inclusión de la bicicleta en el encuadre da más grafismo al conjunto.

muito boa a foto e ela parecia estar preocupada com algo, os brinquedos no chão dão ideia da pausa. lindo enquadramento, ótima luz indireta e detalhes. no marrocos eles estavam sempre atentos e detestavam ser fotografados, o que foi uma pena já que há personagens muito interessantes.
