In India life is going on the streets. All worksops and shops are widely open so you can onserve working barbers, taylors, shoe makers... it is a real haven for photographers interested in street scenes. And wonderful Indian colours are there too, of course. I liked this scene from Jodhpur. Jodhpur is known as Blue City because walls are painted blue.
Jodhpur is the second largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was formerly the seat of a princely state of the same name, the capital of the kingdom known as Marwar. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar desert.
The city is known as the "Sun City" for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all year. It is also referred to as the "Blue City" due to the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. The old city of Jodhpur is surrounded by a thick stone wall.

Hello dear Malgorzata,
Whenever I'm travelling, I make a point of visiting a few barbers along the way. I love the experience, while at home I'm a do-it-yourself person here.
This shot is a great tribute to the trade. I particularly like the right part. A pity the elbow is cropped off just a bit, but the light is really great there, wonderfully soft.
Two halves here that would have been two good pictures in their own right.
Cheers & have a fine weekend.

There is wonderful drama in this photo, a veritable diptych. The barber and the boy remind me of a the works of the American illustrator. The boy's mother, in a hot pink sari, has covered her face and is looking with some suspicion at the photographer. As always this is a first rate Kopczynksa, worth framing for an exhibition.
Warm regards and have a good weekend,

Hi Malgorzata- This is super! Two stories going on in one frame and each worthy in their own right. Looks like mum is waiting for her son as her submits to the capable hands of the barber. I am impressed by your light management and the image is a wonder slice of daily life. Warm regards rosemary

Very well done

Amazing what kind of pictures you had hidden in your archives. These are really two scenes inside one frame but they complement each other wonderfully. The pink/orange and blue cloths make a striking contrast and the bodies of the boy and woman are bent in the same way, just opposiing each other. A bit of darkness on one side, clear light on the other, both parts excellently exposed. The look of that woman is very interesting. This is one of your best, in my opinion.
I can't imagine why you kept this for so long. I would have burst with excitement to show it immediately after the journey.
CLODO (26414) 2011-10-14 5:49
In fact, you have 2 images: the barber at work, and the lady looking at you, and their eyes are so attractive that we forget the daily life scene.
saxo042 (33900) 2011-10-14 6:32
The two front persons here are equal parts of a semicircle, but in quite contrasting colours. This is a very good picture with marvellous colours. You took this excellent photo two years ago and wait until now to show us!?
vasilpro (40557) 2011-10-14 8:29

Witaj Małgorzato z wizytą u fryzjera
śliczna kompozycja,barwy i detale.
limielski (2571) 2011-10-14 9:09
Bardzo ciekawe zdjecie - odmiennosc scenerii tez robi swoje, ale kompozycyjnie jest tez wszystko OK i kontrast kolorow - zimne-ciple lewa strona i prawa no i uklad osob po lewej i prawej stronie. Troche jak odbicie w lustrze Super

Beautiful daily life shot. I like how you got both the foreground of the Mother waiting for her son to get his hair cut. Beautiful colors, good details. Love to see India one day.
tyro (15693) 2011-10-14 16:45
Gosh, I agree with Gert - how could you have kept this picture all to yourself for nearly two years? Gosh, I just must visit India sometime soon!
Fabulous colours, composition, sharpness and detail but the human element is what really makes this picture - the little boy having his hair cut by the local barber while his mother looks on. Mind you - she does seem a little less than happy at the sight of your camera! Did she show any real objection to having her photograph taken?

Hello Malgorzata. Here you have photographed a beautiful scene everyday. I could always watch the hairdressers at work. Hairdressers are indeed no craftsman, there are artists. Your photo is actually two images. The right hairdresser, left the expectant mother. And my eyes remain fixed on the face and the eyes of the mother. Overall, a strong and worth seeing photo. My compliments for this work. Rgds wolfgang.
bema (26179) 2011-10-15 9:57
what a charming daily-life-picture, you show us here.. reminds me a lot of my childhood-days, as we had two barber-shops in our litlle village, and to sit in taht big chair wasn´t possible, so the little chidren had an extra spinning chair to seat on..
tfs, see you soon, pozdrawiam Bernd

Une superbe scène de vie parfaitement composée et aux très belles couleurs.
Ton nouveau scanner fait du très bon travail!
Angshu (52890) 2011-10-16 0:59
Wonder why the kid's mother is covering part of her face..my guess is that it may be from the wind & the flying hairs. Nice daily life image which is quite common to our Indian eyes, but exotic to the Western eyes. Good frame
paololg (31446) 2011-10-16 12:56
What a masterpiece, cara Malgo, this is a photo that all the photographers would like to have in own archive. You have captured a beautiful and significant street scene and daily life in India, with a quality absolutely perfect. Beautiful woman's eyes, a look amazingly magnetic. Sincere compliments, dear friend, this is a wonderful demonstration of your ability with the camera. BRAVA!!!
Ciao, have a very nice week!

A perfectly focused daily life scene. 2 stories within one image. I particularly like the barber's concentration and his pointed finger. Cheers, Marlene

I'm really late checking all the posts since I went on holidays, but you have posted a good series of India since then. Seems you should keep searching in your archives because you have a lot hidden there:)! This one is great - really two scenes in one. I like the barber cutting the boy's hair and including the woman on the left made the scene just perfect. Colourful and full of details.
"I'll try to send you an email before Sunday, ok:)?"

Malgorzata: What a great, halved, composition. I like your "two-story" motif here. A great eye for divided comp. best, c
