Photographer's Note

I had had a full day of travel and photography. Now, late afternoon, the sun also seemed tired out. Looking to the south is the garrison wall of Champanir Fort, the nearest bastion less than 30 metres to the west. A view of the fortified, sacred Pavagadh Hill with its Kalikamata Temple is blocked out by the facade of the mosque. Here the minars and building in dressed stone blocks glow, awaiting any who might come for prayers. The five entrances will welcome them, here in Champanir - the most complete unchanged example of Sultanate pre-Mughal architecture in India.
