Photographer’s Note
Met him at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival on Saturday.
The festival is on till January 23, showcasing performances and workshops covering every conceivable form of art.
If you are in Mumbai, it would be worth catching some of it.

The colors are very warm and rich. There's loss of detail on the right side of the face, due to darkness maybe, and somewhat on the beard, oversharpening. Makes me feel like brightening/lighting up the image a bit, but retaining the warmth of the colors.
Gr8 to see a new pic from you after a long time!

Hi Avi,
you are back with the best of colors. amazing sharpness with perfect DOF. the low light has done magic. the eyes sparkle and the looks just penetrate.
framing is perfect with the rich black and thin white. the compo is good too with landscape and object on side.
we were missing you and your pics for a while. i can imagine that you are starting a good series now!
Thanks for sharing
Arnab

Amazing colours, my guess is that the shot was taken during sunset to achieve this?
The clarity of the mans features is also great.

Nice warm and vivid colors. The already fine details of the man is increased by the blured background.
Amazing colors.

Hi Avi,
Welcome back with this portrait.
I really love your portraits.
This one is somehow special in color, contrast, light and with two catching eyes.

Great colours and light. Also interesting note with the festival theme carrying into the picture - the background is sufficiently blurred to make it look like a painted scene and the setting sun could almost be a theatre spotlight! Excellent stuff. Great sparkling eyes.

i think ti's the light here thats the most attractive thing about the photograph.. which makes the colours also look much better..
about the portrait.. well to be honest i'm a little bored with closeup portraits for the moment.. ( mood swing i guess:))
i hope you've got more photographs form the festival which also show some more of the festival and not just the faces..
take care :)
p.s. why is this festival called kala ghoda??does it have anything to do with a horse???
and also who is this man?? i mean an artist?? if an artist, then any idea what kind of an artist? just curious :)

Nice to see your work appearing once again Avishek. This is a fine portrait with excellent color and detail, as well as fine control of depth of field. I might have cropped a bit tighter at the left to remove the bright orange element in the background. There also appears to be something at the right edge that distracts the eye a bit. I don't know whether it is a twig, an artifact of some sort. These are minor quibbles, no doubt, since the image is first rate in every other way. I'll look forward to seeing what you bring to the board. I agree with Sohrab, that street scenes and festival activities would be welcome subjects. Happy new year to you.

Brilliant portrait, expression. Really like the crop and wouldn't change anything here. Good note too.

Great colors and light. Really excellent. The details are very well captured and are enhanced by the DOF. Also the framing is good. Still in the textures there seems to be some kind of pixelization (in the beard and skin) which makes the image look very digital. But as this may be from the PP its not that serious as it is always something correctible, contrary to the framing and moment.

Great photo Avi !
I like the colors and DOF .
The expression of the old man is quite interesting.
Would be even better if you could get rid of the flash in his eyes ...
Bravo! Dror.
