Photographer’s Note
Nandi is the bull which the God Shiva rides and the gate keeper of Shiva and his wife Parvati in Hindu mythology. Temples venerating Shiva and Parvati display stone images of a seated Nandi, generally facing the main shrine. There are also a number of temples dedicated solely to Nandi.
Photo taken in the temple complex of Pattadakal. Pattadakal, in Karnataka, represents the high point of an eclectic art which, in the 7th and 8th centuries under the Chalukya dynasty, achieved a harmonious blend of architectural forms from northern and southern India. An impressive series of nine Hindu temples, as well as a Jain sanctuary, can be seen there.

Bonsoir Paul
une image bien indienne d'un temple à shiva comme on en voit tant
ce taureau est vraiment majestueux dans sa robe noire qui ressort bien dans son environnement brun
la touche de rose du garçon est la touche colorimètrique qui finit agréablement la scène
Bien amicalement

Hello Paul,
this scene looks a bit - a tiny bit - sinister... well, maybe because of the semi-darkness?
anyway, I like it. Curious photo, very good quality of the shot! the warm colours of this part of the temple and the lighting also adds some sort of a mysterious look to this scene.
Very interesting!
Best regards,
Elena

belle capture de lumières pas faciles, un contre jour dans le fond notamment. J'aime beaucoup la chaleur des teintes.

Hello Paul
a well framed and exposed image especially considering the low light condition...and a fine sharpness.
I like the fact the boy is looking at you with his serious expression.
I wonder what this box(on the left side) is doing there ;)
Cheers

Bonjour, cher Paul,
Une image qui nous fait remonter le temps ! l'architecture est imposante ainsi que cette sculpture étonnante. Ce qui attire également le regard c'est la présence de ce coffre-fort ! Pour quel usage ?
Une image prise sur le vif ! Bravo !
Amitiés.

Beautifully clear shot, with many interesting elements! The bull is amazing, as are the pillars. The little boy adds another interesting element to the whole composition. All together a very striking photo. Nice work! Regards,

Hi Paul,
This is a very interesting photo! I am intrigued by the atmosphere it portrays (or at least from the eyes of a Western viewer). On the one hand, there is a giant cow statue dressed in flowers so you would think that something very special or sacred should be going on. Then, on the other hand there are the small details like the garbage pail, store sign in the background, random chest, and boy sitting there calmly, that remind the viewer that no, this is just everyay life.
Very nice! Cheers,
Jordan

Hello Paul
I do remember this temple. Lighting is very well managed, which is not easy to do, especially since you're looking outside at light through the shadowed part inside. The boy with his pink cotton shawl is a good addition & in fact his presence makes this picture a success. Good work!
Best Regards
Angshu

A very elegant & majestic Nandhi....It looks much graceful than the huge Bigger Nandhis I have seen else where...
Your light & contrast here very perfect & makes a good portrayal of the place.
Well Done.
