Hello my TE friends! I am still in the midst of transition between to Delhi to the new place of my work - Mumbai. I have just come back to Delhi to take my family to Mumbai for a few days....and so I took this opportunity to post a picture ...can't stay out of TE for very long...eh? ;-)
This picture was taken with my mobile phone camera, in the flight from Delhi to Mumbai. The late afternoon flight was generally empty. As the airplane flew towards Mumbai, it was in fact also racing with the sun, which was on a setting path. Suddenly the sun blazed through the window opposite, blinding me for a moment. The elderly lady passenger braced back against the seat shielding against the sudden burst of sunlight. The scene reminded me of a scene from the film 2010...very out-of-the-worldly.
The location is an approximation, given the flight time from Delhi to Mombai & that this shot was taken about 1 hour 15 minutes after take-off from Delhi & about 30 minutes before landing in Mumbai. This would make it somewhere over South Rajasthan IMO.
I liked the effect of the 'sun-burst' through the window & decided to share the picture with you. This is an experimental shot, nothing great, but then, what's life without experiments? Your candid opinions as always are most welcome!!!

You disconcerted me for a short while, Angshu, until I read the explanation and "discovered" the lady so everything was suddenly clear. Yes, this happens sometimes, this sudden invasion of the sun thru the window, and you captured this in quite artistic fashion, congratulations and have a great time in Mumbai. Regards, Daniel

Bonjour, cher Angshu,
Effectivement, cette image semble sortie tout droit d'un film à suspens !
Pas évident pour réaliser une telle photo avec un appareil téléphonique.
L'effet est saisissant.

Hello Angshuman! I had to look twice :))) but it makes totally sense after reading your note. Yeah handy cams, amazing what they bring out these days, my friend that owns a little graphic design company is a huge fan of these things and sees this kind of photography as art. Cool shot!!!! Good luck with your move and see you later. Barbara.

Interestingly captured effect of this sun ray burst through the plane window. I was a bit confused too, until I saw the lady profile and put 2 and 2 together ... but it surely looked artistic. Good one! Enjoy Mumbai.

penetration and the flame color in the image to swallow had the ball I could not resolve the composition of this photo...:))

I'm not sure I can say I like the shot, it reminded me of unhappy event, bombs going of, a blast, an explosion. Once again as I said before, if an image can stir one's emotion, good or bad. it's pretty successful shot. Being taken with a cell phone, I'm surprise with the good quality. Yes, this can be many thing to different people and as your imagination would take you...to your 2010, Space Odyssey and beyond. Thanks

it is always very interesting to experience new ways in the photography, in this case an almost impossible capture because of such a direct light of the sun on your lens. However, by this way we can see if our ideas are creative and have a good result.
This photo is a test of it, its result is fascinating and hard-hitting at sight, although this scene is quite usual during a flight.
It is a very interesting experimental work graphicly.

This is quite a suprise to have an image from a mobile telephone. The effect done by the sun in the cabin is special, like burning through the window. The reaction of the elderly lady was different, most passenger would have closed the blind. Well done, have a nice day.

Interesting effect, but probably not figurative enough for my old fashioned taste... Yess I have also managed to find the profile of the lady on the right of the image, and review my upraisal in consequence!
All the best,

I like the solar flare effect, but the area of oe, is a little too dominant, for my taste. The red corona is nice though. Reasonable sharpness, with good silhouettes. Tfs!

this really looks like an explosion, at least like I imagine how an explosion has to look like. Great light and colors. The title is also matching. And it was very nice hearing from you again. Hopefully your move will soon be overcome.
With my best wishes for a successful move,

Hello Mr. B,
Imaginative and other worldy. The resolution is quite good for a cellphone shot, the note is, as always, engaging. Again best wishes for a successful career in Mumbai.

C'est une photo qui frappe par son originalité et un effet d'éclair saisissant. Le soleil fait un flash extraordinaire avec un halo rouge du meilleur effet.

The thumbnail didn't say me anything...!
Now at least I understand what it is...
Interesting effect has been recorded, with some abstract qualities and the colour palette is special.
However, not an image I will remember for long...

this does look like straight from Kubric movies :) unusual photo, but I have to say it works, especially with the sci-fi reference, like a supernova exploding right in your face. interesting, and daring, I like it.
p.s. what happened to the photo of the fairy tale temple?
Felip (3907) 2009-05-03 8:05
Well, It is not a great pict, but I have to reckon that it catches the attention.
Keep on experimenting my friend
